Should I put down that I’m in the process? I’ve taken FAR already and waiting for results. Audit exam is on August 10th.

I don’t want them to think I’m going to pass the CPA exam and leave. What did you do?

I told them when I interviewed (and in an email with my resume, I believe) that I was planning to take the CPA exam. My job didn't necessarily require it, but that was an added bonus for them that I wanted to. That means that I am wanting to grow which could potentially help them grow as well. (Full disclosure: I got a job at a super small CPA firm. Like, I work for 2 CPA's and I am the first full time employee, but there is another employee that is part time.) They are all on board with me taking the exam and give me time off to study and take the exam.

It really depends on what kind of job it is. If you're trying to be an AP clerk then leave it off because no one needs an AP clerk with the drive of someone taking the CPA exam. It will scare them that you will leave. If you are going to work in a CPA firm, like jenpen4, then put it down because you could be of use to them as a CPA. I would judge it based on the interview of what they want for the position and the potential for growth.

If you're currently pursuing the exam be honest about it. Why would you want to work somewhere that would be put off by it. Put it on your resume but don't bring it up in an interview unless they do.

Thanks for the replies everyone. You're all right. I'll put it on my resume. It's for an Accountant II job for a city in the California. I'm currently an accountant I for another city in California. I'm hoping for the best.
