As I get closer to the 150 hr requirement to sit, I been thinking about the CPA exam alot, like everyday. A part of me can’t wait to start studying for the exam later next year (mostly because I will get to re-learn all the accounting I learned in school that I have pretty much forgotten now). I kind of feel weird for being excited because I know how exhausting and difficult the CPA exam journey is and I know it will consume my life until I pass it. Is it normal to be excited about preparing for the CPA exam even though I know it will take over my life?

I have the same excitement, but sometimes the excitement in disabling. I have never been afraid ( not even to fail), and yes I have failed Reg and FAR, FAR hurt a little more because I did not expect to fail so miserably. Some days I am excited while I study, and some days (recent days) I feel lost…. like when will this be over.

The good part is I am determined to emerge as a CPA…..

Keep dreaming, keep studying until you pass.

    It begins with a 75
Been here too long as a cheerleader....ready to pass

I was excited about studying for the CPA. Thought FAR would easy since I was still fresh out of school.

F1 felt great. “Gee golly,” I thought. This is going to be a breeze. Then I reached F2… and I haven't been the same since.

    FAR: 50, 76!
REG: 74... (ouch baby, very ouch), 76!
    AUD: 65, 91!?
    BEC: 80! Aaaand doneskies!

    May 2012 to August 2013. Can't believe it's over.

I guess we are not taking into consideration that there are some individuals that actually love accounting. For these ”humans” studying for the CPA could be compared to a kid spending 9 months in Disney World.

    FAR-84
    AUD-
    REG-
    BEC-

Thanks auslaf—I am torn between Yaeger and CPAExcel. My concern is that I have been out of school for 8 years. 🙁

Anything worth doing is probably not easy, but the rewards are worth it. (unknown)

@CR7 – I dont know about that – I truly enjoy accounting and do not enjoy taking this test.

@e_griffin87 – Honestly, I was very excited to start studying – I spent hours planning it out after I finished my MSA last summer. Made a timeline and everything… don't make a timeline. Unless you are a great test taker and are not working full-time, you will probably have to take at least 1 section more than once, which throws off your timeline and your hopes of being done. I made a timeline as a goal, I thought it would motivate me to push through to have it all done by Thanksgiving of this year. Unfortunately I did not make it through my first test, which put me into next year, when I got the same score the 2nd time, it pushed me even further into next year. I think a general idea of the order you want to take them in works better than actual dates. Because of my ocd of dates, I have pushed myself into a crunch for 2 sections that my NTS will expire for. I really don't mean to sound discouraging, I just wish I had someone tell me this before I started. I honestly don't think I would be having such a hard time if I just faced the reality that the pass rate averages 50% and it is ok that it could take multiple attempts.

    FAR - 84.
    AUD - X,X,76.
    REG - X,X,75.
    BEC - X,X,74*, 81 AND IM DONE!!!!!!

*if i dont pass, i lose FAR.

Study materials: Becker videos/MCQ/Books, NINJA Blitz helped to finally pass AUD and REG.

First exam was in May 2013, seems like so long ago - FINALLY DONE!!!

I'm “looking forward” to studying only because I want to get this exam out of my life! Unfortunately, due to work I'm unable to sit for my next part until the end of November but I just want my normal life back where I don't think about this exam all the time.

If OP is serious, god bless you.

    FAR - 7/1/13 - 98
    AUD - 8/31/13 - 94
    BEC - 11/23/13 - 89
    REG - 1/13/14 - 86

I think when you are in school. You have an optimistic view of your future…that optimism evaporates quickly once you graduate and start working. I was really excited to start studying for the exam. I think I wasn't excited about taking the exam, I was excited about what I can do AFTER I pass the exams. That excitement died the first day I started studying. I finished two parts and now my motivation has taken some serious toll. Now I am just counting down the days till my exams are done. November 30th can't come fast enough!

    REG: 86 8/3/13
    BEC: 85 8/31/13
    FAR: 87 10/27/13
    AUD: 90 11/30/13
