I think about the CPA exam everyday, can't wait to start studying. This normal? - Page 3

As I get closer to the 150 hr requirement to sit, I been thinking about the CPA exam alot, like everyday. A part of me can’t wait to start studying for the exam later next year (mostly because I will get to re-learn all the accounting I learned in school that I have pretty much forgotten now). I kind of feel weird for being excited because I know how exhausting and difficult the CPA exam journey is and I know it will consume my life until I pass it. Is it normal to be excited about preparing for the CPA exam even though I know it will take over my life?

I am going to refrain from posting my real thoughts about people who are “excited to start studying for the CPA exam.”

We'll see what you have to say in a couple of months from now and just to let you know, there is nothing exciting about it.

I was really excited to start too. That ended the first night of studying. Now I want to claw my eyeballs out.

    R - *77*(02/'13)-Becker & NINJA
    A - 71('11); *87*(04/'13)-Becker & NINJA
    F - *76*(08/'13)-Becker & NINJA - "server upgrade" survivor
    B - 60('11); *82*(10/'13) -Becker & NINA

    DONE, DONE, AND DONE.

I was pretty excited to start studying for FAR, but I'm a bit of an anomaly, I think… I powered through it in a month – I like watching the little bar fill up in Becker as I completed sections. That being said, I thought I'd be able to keep up the pace when I started AUD, and now I've ground to a veeery slow pace. My advice is to take advantage of that ‘excitement' for FAR. If I had started with AUD full throttle and lost the oomph for the other three, I'd be boned.

Mommy needs a cookie. Holding the vodka off until the next kid comes out in August! Can't believe I'm done!

    FAR - 8/29/13 ... 87
    AUD - 10/14/13 ... 83
    BEC - 12/06/13 ... 80
    REG - 5/29/14 ... 85

I guess I disagree with the majority of posters. I don't view the process at grueling and exhausting as you read above. Don't get me wrong, it's not the most enjoyable thing in the world but I think if you read too many consecutive posts preaching how miserable and impossible it is, you develop an unnecessary fear that I think does more harm than good. If you approach it with confidence and a well developed plan and put in a decent amount of prep, it's not that bad. Unless your trying to win an EWS award you don't have to know everything about everything. I was absolutely petrified going into my first exam because I spent too much time reading FAR exam experience. Im also guilty of posting what I was sure of a failing BEC post test review. Anyway just my two cents. Don't let it intimidate you.

    BEC - 89
    AUD - 93

Go and enjoy your life until next May.

You can post about the joys of pensions at 5:40am next summer πŸ™‚
