As I get closer to the 150 hr requirement to sit, I been thinking about the CPA exam alot, like everyday. A part of me can’t wait to start studying for the exam later next year (mostly because I will get to re-learn all the accounting I learned in school that I have pretty much forgotten now). I kind of feel weird for being excited because I know how exhausting and difficult the CPA exam journey is and I know it will consume my life until I pass it. Is it normal to be excited about preparing for the CPA exam even though I know it will take over my life?

Which CPA exam review are you planning to use? That might determine how happy/unhappy you will be ๐Ÿ˜‰

    FAR: 81 (May 2013)
    BEC: 81 (July 2013)
    REG: 83 (August 2013)
    AUD: 82 (November 2013)
    California CPA since 1/30/14

@ tough_kitty I visit the review course sites, I'm going with Yaeger w/DVDs. Some think Yaeger is boring, but watching the demos took me back to sitting in my accounting classes in undergrad 3 years ago.

I see. Well, good luck! Where I am coming from, most people use Becker or Roger CPA Review…or Wiley books only….or sometimes CPAExcel. I haven't met anyone who would use Yaeger or Gleim but I heard of those too.

Not sure if you already selected the right order of taking the exams, but I'd suggest FAR before AUD because you are expected to know GAAP/journal entries for AUD.

    FAR: 81 (May 2013)

    REG: 83 (August 2013)
    AUD: 82 (November 2013)

I was a little excited to start….but that withered away pretty quickly. At the speed of sound, actually.

@ Tough_kitty FAR, AUD, REG, BEC will be the order I'm taking it. Yaeger comes with lectures, Wiley TB, Wiley books, instructor hand-outs. Direct access to instructors with any questions. Plus the course doesn't expire.

@e_griffin87 – That sounds good! and Wiley TB is what I used as well. It's not perfect but seems to be effective! ๐Ÿ™‚
