About five years ago, Nike released a replica sneaker of the ones worn by Michael J. Fox in Back to the Future II. The going price at the time was around $1,100. Being that it was my first year of grad school, this seemed like a foolish amount of money to spend on sneakers. I recently read an article about men who deal custom and vintage sneakers like high art that mentioned the BTF sneakers with a current value of over $5K, which would have been a much greater return than the over-education I received at the time.
