So I have been interviewing for a job in a new city. I have interviewed with a few firms, all off which I feel like the interview went very well. I feel like I might get an offer from all three. Based on the following, what job would you take?

    1) Very small firm close to home, own office with a window, flexible hours. I would describe this one as the “comfortable job”

    2) Medium Small firm with more people my age. In the city so 30 minutes more a day driving. Cubicle. Probably more money.

    3) Small firm but larger then 1. Not a ton of younger people. More money then 2 but further into the city so more traffic. Idk about the office/cube.

I’m open to anyones opinion. I just want to here what others would do.

I took choice A. I based a lot of my decision on commute length, and flexibility of hours. I ended up hiring at a firm that is a 10 minute walk from my house. They don't care when I come in or when I leave, as long as I get my hours in each week and make it to my scheduled meetings. I got my own office from day one.
From what my old friends from school say, I lucked out, and am happier there then a lot of them are at the firms they ended up at.

have you looked at the entire compensation packages offered by each of the firms? i would drive further for better healthcare and a 401k match. i would even sit in a cubicle if they throw in great vision and dental coverage, too.

Don't take the easy road, my friend. Challenge yourself because that will mold you for future opportunities. Believe me, I'm speaking from experience. I would strike “1” off the list, if I were you.

    That leaves 2 and 3.

2 – people your age – you can make friends and continue to develop your soft skills. I would take this one.

3 – older folks may expect more from you. They may not have time to train you. I love working with old people but they can expect a lot from you.

Right now I think I'm on the same page as @mistical guy. The second option seems to be the most appealing to me. I will know Monday what firms are in play. Thank again, everyone.

The one with the best 401k match is what I think Suze Orman would say.

Unfortunately there's nothing in your original post that would lead me towards any of those positions vs the other. While an office and window are nice and all, it's a novelty that fades pretty fast, and while working with young people is appealing does it imply the company can't retain good professionals long term? What about growth potential, benefits, quality of work/life balance, mentoring if you're early on in your career, type of work you'd be doing? Figure your commuting time when you're weighing the compensation offered, 2k more per year may not justify 500 hours of commuting annually.
