Anyone else studying on the down low so co-workers (who are also testing) and friends won’t bug you about your score if you unfortunately fail? I’m taking the last of my first round of exams Dec 5. I’m waiting for my reg score which should come out on the 22nd and I passed audit but failed FAR. As far as anyone else knows…..I’ve only taken far and studying for BEC now hahaha

Everyone knows I am studying basically at all times, but I don't tell many at all when I am taking the test or when I find out the score until I know I have passed or… ugh failed (like my first four times).

I always tell them “oh a few weeks”. My friends all figure it out, though, when I stop going out on the weekends a few weekends before hand. Then they know something is up.

I don't keep it a secret. My feeling is, it is not embarrassing to not pass the exam. This is a hard test and even if you are totally prepared does not assure you that you will pass. This is a challenge that we all will overcome. It would be more embarrassing to quit.

I think one of the nice things about starting in public accounting is that you start with a whole bunch of people on the same page as you. There's a large group of us that are all taking exams right now and we all talk about it to each other.

I wish I wouldn't have told anyone at work. Someone in another department recently passed all of the tests on their first try, so now everyone expects me to pass them all on the first try. Everyone likes to say “You are smart. I'm sure you will ace them all” and “I'm sure you did better than you thought on the test”. I know they are just trying to encourage me, but it really bothers me.

Everyone keeps asking me how studying is going, when I'm taking the test, how the test went, if I have my score back, how much longer I have to study, and a million other questions. After I took my test, I told everyone that I did not want to talk about the test anymore. Luckily most of them have not brought it up since.

My CPA journey is on a “need to know” basis. Once I pass, then everyone will need to know.

    REG - 89
    FAR - 84
    AUD - 73, 86
    BEC - 89
