Its a hard habit to break 🙂 even when you're finished.

If you're serious, you can use a website blocking device while studying like stayfocusd. Although, I used another71 to help with studying, so I used it for other tempting websites.

I like checking it when on a break from work. It keeps me thinking about the exams (and potentially study topics as they pop up in threads) and I've picked up what I'm hoping will be some great tips come exam day.

I'm not on it too much while studying… facebook seems to be a bigger draw then. Thank God for stayfocused, or I'd be in big trouble.

FAR - 73, rematch in early April
    AUD - 5/14
    REG - 8/14
    BEC - 11/14

I have the same problem. For me I eventually got tired of reading similar posts one after another. So I went from 45 minutes a day to 5 to 10 minutes a day. The best advice, as ironic as this might sound, is don't get into the habit of responding to a lot of posts or creating a lot of posts. I used to respond to more than one question a day. I definitely check this site more often when I am involved in conversations.

I also am trying to only check posts that are related to my specific situation or test. I am trying to read only FAR posts for the most part and I will read the occasional “how to find a job” post since I am planning to look for work in May after a few tests are knocked out.

Another good habit is to start timing your study sessions. Try to work in one hour intervals where you hold yourself accountable and cannot do anything other than study. Then only take 10 to 20 minute breaks between study sessions. Make your study routine so stringent that you start only having time for eating and shii#ing. Give yourself bigger rewards for time saved not being on internet. For a while I only gave myself access to the web in the mornings and nights.

I think the main thing to realize is anytime you are obsessive about anything other than studying it is because you are losing focus on the importance of your goal to be a CPA. I think that this site is great in moderation but 98 out of 100 posts will not help you pass. I have gotten valuable information out of the FAR test experience post but very little from anywhere else. That being said some people have really helped me out on personal posts that I have made.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"
