This is really a stupid question, but how do you wake up at 4 AM ? Despite sleeping in early the previous day, i still can not get up at 4 🙁

You just gotta set a loud alarm and STAND UP as soon as it wakes you. The only way to do it is to do it all the way right away 🙂 I get up at 5 every day for work. Make it a bit easier on yourself by laying out your clothes or breakfast or something like that the night before, so you have something to greet you, so to speak.

When I first started studying early, I lived alone and went out and bought an old school really loud annoying alarm. I put it in the bathroom at night so I had to get out of bed and turn it off. Now, mornings are the best time for me because I am very productive. Its hard to get up but I force myself to get up. Another motivator for me is that my score went from a 49 to 73 when I started waking up early. There really is no secret to waking up other than you just have to get up and get moving.

I woke up at 4 am every day this year to study. It was quite rough the first two/three weeks, but then my body acclimated. Most important thing is to go to bed early…like 7:30/8. Then you get 8 hours of sleep. Cheating for extended periods of time is NOT a good idea.

Agree with above. The most important thing is to go to sleep early enough so you get the appropriate amount of sleep.
It's always harder to wake up when it's dark, so you might want to get either a lamp, or a timed light switch that turns on right before your alarm goes off.
There are all natural sleep aids that can help you get to sleep at the appropriate time so it will be easier to get up at 4am.

Put your alarm on the other side of the room from your bed. That way you actually have to get up to turn it off.

Get a Phillips Wake-up light. It's really a game changer for waking up early. 4 out of 5 days of the week I wakeup without the alarm even going off.

Put your phone in the kitchen and set it to music. Have the coffee pot ready to “go”.

When I'm studying, I get up at 5 to study before work. What helps me every morning is setting my coffee pot the night before to have a fresh pot ready for me when I get out of the shower. It really forces me to get up as I don't want to waste a delicious pot of coffee.

Also, just do your normal routine as you would when waking up for work, just a couple hours earlier than normal.

Just soak up the discipline and get up. I have a 2-year old at home, and have to start getting her ready for school (daycare) by 5 30 am, so I wake up at 3 – 3:05 am and get started. I don't get home until between 7 30 – 8 pm, which may or may not give me a couple of minutes to see her, have dinner with my wife, and get everything prepped and finishing errands/chores for the next day to start it all over. By the time my head hits the pillow it's probably close to 10: 30 so I usually catch 4.5 hours per night.

Like Jeff said, my coffee pot is pre-filled with coffee (insanely strong) so I just hit the on button, take my shower and hit the books. I sort of warmed up to the process because I was completing my 150-credit requirement before I started the exam, and would wake up at 5, which turned into 4 30, which turned into 4, which slowly now turned into 3. Seems to be my sweet spot, we'll see. Once the alarm goes off, just get up and go, that's it. After enough days, there's only so much motivation to do it so you kind of just have to robot through it.
