Just had to share this with you all- I had a fairly funny experience tonight during my final prep for AUD tomorrow.
I took a break from studying to run out of my apartment to pick up dinner, and was driving to the restaurant when “SNAP”- my drivers-side windshield wiper broke off! Fortunately, I was just turning into the parking lot when this happened. I get out of my car and the wiper somehow got jammed beneath the hood right in front of the windshield, and is vertical against the windshield. I somehow managed to yank it out from under the hood, and at least got it looking right. I got back into the car to test it- and it just flies right off again! I put it back on and thought “ok, I’ll look at this in a minute”, so I go inside, pick up dinner, and then walk back out to my car. I look at the windshield wiper and I move it around a bit with my hand, and it seems pretty solid. I hit the unlock button on my keys and open the door. I then realize to my horror that it wasn’t my car! I quick shut the door and back up, and realize that someone with literally the exact same car (same color, same model) parked right next to me, but left their doors unlocked! Obviously as soon as I realized it wasn’t my vehicle I left the car alone- I’m just glad the owner didn’t see me and think I was trying to steal their wipers or their car. As far as I know there are no Prometric centers in prison, lol!
I got into MY car this time, and drove home (fortunately it had stopped raining). I think I have managed to fix the wiper (it worked when I tested it), and my significant other who lives 15 minutes away is on standby if something goes wrong tomorrow (hopefully it just won’t rain/snow and it won’t be an issue). I also have the local taxi company’s number stored in my phone. I will get to that test center one way or another!
So I definitely learned my lesson- next time I have something big going on the next day, just order delivery.
