How Does Your First Pass Taste?

After scoring 62 in FAR in Jan-2013, and 72 in AUD in May-2013, it’s indescribable how it feels to see a perfect score of 75 in my AUD-retake in August.

I’m extremely grateful I can move on with other materials now.

Had I failed AUD again, I don’t know how am I going to tackle this part anymore. I would literally puke if I had to study AUD again.

I wept to God in prayers and asked HIM to give me easy research questions and God answered. I got 2 easy research questions about the standards that provide guidance on the date of such report and what is the content to include in such report.

They were bonus SIMs and the rest of the 5 items were purely AUD-related materials, not FAR-related questions that I was really scared of.

My first pass tastes a mixture of excitement and fear. Excitement that 1 is now down and yet so fearful of the rest of the 3 parts that I have to conquer along the way.

My time has just started to click.

I didn't believe it first because it came as a bitter sweet achievement. The CPA process does something to your personality and your confidence.

Like a few ballet leaps down the (thankfully pretty much empty) hallway at work followed by a handful of cream ales at one of our local microbreweries! It was Friday during the last score release, so I'm just glad I didn't have to work the next day. 🙂

Seriously though, I wasn't sure what to think. About 30 minutes after I got my score, it finally sunk in, and I'm pretty sure my exact words were “Oh my lord, s*** just got real!” I'd been studying for sure, but never really felt like I was in the middle of the exam process until I got that first passing score. I couldn't wait to shelve AUD and pull out the FAR book! You're right – it's a little scary to think that the clock has started (I had plenty of people kind enough to remind me of that fact, haha!), but it's really exciting to know that this is actually a possibility!!

    Congrats on your pass!!!

So sweet that I had to run out of my office into the parking lot to call my hubby and scream (almost cry) to him that I passed. First pass gives me the confidence that I can do this and that hopefully they will all be passes from now on!

    BEC: 73, 81
    AUD: 85
    FAR: 71, 77
    REG: 74, 75...finally DONE! 😀

*This is my 2nd attempt at the CPA exam. For all of you who have failed this exam many times, given up on it, or taken a break like me, remember that it is still possible to finish what you started...failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently 🙂

Jump up and down screaming until the dog runs under the bed and won't come out. That's just the first pass.

The FINAL pass was drinking wine(lots of it) out of a Mason jar while throwing my study materials away.

I'm with fightingforsanity on this one. Passed FAR! After coming home from the exam, sobbing and lying comatose in bed for 2 days, this is a really, really nice surprise.

    FAR 8/2013 - Passed!
    REG 11/2013 - Passed!
    AUD 1/2014
