since everyone is back to studying mode, I thought it would be a good encouragement for people with CPA credential to share how having CPA impacted their career/life.

The biggest satisfaction I have gained from obtaining my CPA license is in my confidence level!!!

Personally, I did not need the CPA license to further my position at my current job (which I love by the way), but felt if I was going to major in accounting, get 150 credit hours, and work in this field I needed to get the most recognized certification within the profession.

The amount of personal sacrifice was worth it!!! I feel more confident in my abilities which shows in my work product and interaction with co-workers, customers, and others…I stand taller and have a sense of accomplishment because of it.

It is hard to explain…even though I do not feel any smarter for becoming a CPA…I feel different because of it!!!

It helped me land a job. This job has now turned in to an opportunity to take over a practice. Personally, I've gained many of the things rugger (above) mentioned. I finished my education and CPA journey a little later in life than I'd have liked, but I don't regret it.

I just got my license a week ago, but the biggest thing for me is how many more jobs I am now eligible for (or at least would have a leg up on other candidates for), according to the job postings I am seeing.

On a personal level, yes, I do feel like I've accomplished something big. I didn't think I was going to feel any differently after getting my license than I did before, but I do. I definitely feel more confident and more “legit,” for lack of a better word, when I'm presenting my business card or resume or when I send an email to potential investors, directors, etc., explaining my company's financials and I have the letters “CPA” after my name. It makes a difference.

    In no particular order:

    – RESPECT

    – The ability to create your own wealth (starting your own company … the sky is the limit)

    – Confidence

    – Watching the pain and suffering the current test takers are in the midst of, and feeling insanely incredible that you don't have to go through that sh*t ever again.

    Licensed Florida CPA:
    B: 71, 73, 79
    A: 83
    R: 78 (expired), 77
    F: 74, 74, 80

    It's finally freaking over.

Not much effect for my current position. But then again I transitioned from Financial Reporting to FP&A at my company.

Finance people over here don't really care about the CPA. It's more of the person's attitude and if they're reliable. A test doesn't dictate whether you're successful here, which is a good thing.
