I’m making the move from auditor to accountant. How bad is the transition?

Hi! I just did it a few months ago and it wasn't bad at all! It's interesting to see that private accounting cares about small numbers where my immediate thought is “immaterial – pass on adjustment!” Lol. But I am sure you'll be fine.

I haven't worked in public but I have worked in private and corporate and I can't imagine any public accountants struggling too much. You don't check, you create the records which is pretty cool.

I did it a year ago and love it. Definitely more slow paced as I am at a smaller corporation now compared to Big4 and Regional Public accounting experience (3 years audit – 2 years staff 1 year senior). You catch on quick between GL software and all the reconciliations and balancing at month end. Auditing def helped.
