First post here. Ever. Mods, if this needs to be moved somewhere else, by all means.

I’m hoping this community is the type I’m looking for.(fingers crossed).

Little background:

I plan on getting my Master’s in Accounting and will soon start that journey. My local college offers an Associate’s so I’ll be getting that then transferring to another college to finish up.

Current:

This is the start of my journey. There is a placement or evaluation test that is given prior to signing up for courses. I know that my brain has probably learned the information that will be on there, but I’d like to make sure that it get’s refreshed or at least get’s a slap in the right direction.

Any advice or recommended material you guys can point me toward would be very helpful and appreciated. ;D

I don't think you can have a prep test prior to sign up for review materials, but who knows. As for the best review material it all depends on your preferences and budget $$$. You can find some demos on the internet.

If you are taking a Master to complete the education requirements, make sure the credits are what you need. I have a Bachelor in Finance and a Master in Accounting and still was short few credits because the master program that I chose was not “CPA oriented”…. You can go to any board of accountancy website and look for the specific education requirements.

Obtain from one or more accredited institutions or from the National College:

1.At least 120 semester hours of education;

2.Baccalaureate or higher degree; and

3.Accounting concentration or equivalent*. Requirements include:

a.Minimum of 24 semester hours of accounting courses, to include: courses in auditing, financial accounting, management accounting, and taxation; and

b.Minimum of 24 semester hours of business courses. As many as 6 hours of accounting courses (not included in the 24 hours of accounting courses) may be considered for the business course requirement.

*Principles or introductory accounting courses cannot be considered in determining whether a person has obtained the 48 minimum number of semester hours required for an accounting concentration or equivalent.

I'm starting from scratch. =D

No prior Accounting or Finance training other than cashier work or delivery driver work. And no, I'm not the kind that has to have the calculator to tell you your exact change! XD

Edit:

I know that in Georgia, you can take the CPA exam but don't receive the title until you've finished all the mandatory credit hours/courses. Once you've passed it once, you don't have to re-take it. 🙂
