For anyone who took all 4 sections, what do you rank in order of difficulty? I only took FAR so far, so i’m just wondering what to expect coming up. Thanks.

Why would vote change after score release? Material won't change after score release. Lol. Anyways, hardest to easiest for me have been:

    REG

    FAR

    BEC

    AUD

BEC was the only one I passed on the first try, and it was quite manageable.

AUD was just tricky. Nothing to it really, but it can get in your head.

FAR had the most material, and it was quite hard as well. I was going to quit the CPA if I didn't pass on the 3rd try.

REG is the hardest. I have failed with a 66 and 62. The SIMs seem impossible. I mean really impossible. I think I may not realize my CPA dream because I won't pass REG. I won't continue if FAR expires.

So hardest to easiest – REG > FAR > AUD > BEC

    FAR - 76
    AUD - 75
    BEC - 75
    REG - 76

Now I need some experience!!! And some networking...

From easiest to hardest: AUD, FAR, REG, BEC. To me, AUD is just too easy (for some reasons I failed once. But i didnt review any and passed it 1 month later). FAR requires the knowledge of much info, which is fine with me because it's about the time investment and talent (i happen to have good memories). Unlike FAR, REG addresses both the memorizing skills and the way of thinking (so many logical questions and mechanism of law and tax). BEC is a joke. My review book didnt help me so to me, it's tough. The first time i finished BEC, i didnt even feel that i was doing what i learned from the book.

With that being said I still had to retake AUD & BEC. I thought all the exams had there challenging parts. Even though most people find BEC to be the “easiest”…study your butt off for it! Try not to be like me 🙂

I did a pre-assessment of 200 MC's each to determine which topic I was worst at, and which I was best at.

    Worst –> Best

FAR: Scored: 65% on pre-assessment (didn't know gov, NFP) ,I didn't think FAR was hard or tricky, just the amount of info was crazy.

AUD: Scored 69% on pre-assessment, doesn't naturally click for me for some reason. Must be my masters in tax.

BEC: Scored 80% on pre-assessment, this is my cup of tea

REG: Scored 84% on pre-assessment, I have a masters in Tax, I felt like I knew every answer.

I'm going to say REG and then Audit. FAR and BEC are logical. You can work your way through and even if you don't know the answer from just memorizing them you can usually figure it out because, especially in FAR, pretty much everything comes back to conservatism and completeness of information.

REG and Audit just seemed like thousands of stupid rules that you either know or you don't when exam time comes around. There's no logical way to work out what the answer would be.

I pretty much always give the same example when I explain the difference between FAR and REG: If you can do the corridor method, then you can pretty much do anything that they throw your way in terms of pensions. If you know that the standard exemption for complex trusts is $300, that doesn't necessarily mean you know ANYTHING about complex trusts, it just means you know 1 of 8 random-assed rules about them, and 1 of thousands of random rules throughout the book.

    FAR: 85
    AUD: 78
    REG: 84
    BEC: 89

Based on this sample thus far, the hardest part is REG and the easiest part is Audit. If we draw a conclusion that this reflects the real population,I think we run the risk of incorrect acceptance. We will be ineffective by relying on this sample since the correct result based on 100% of the population according to passing rates reveals that Audit is the hardest, and BEC is the easiest. Hardest to easiest based on Q-1 20014 to Q-3 2014 AICPA passing rates=

    Audit 47.92%

    FAR 48.20%

    REG 51.21%

    BEC 56.72%

    BEC= 74-75
    Reg=77

I think Audit has a low passing rate because people always consider it to be one of the “easy” sections so they don't study for it as well as they should. While REG is considered a “hard” section so people take it more seriously and study hard.

    FAR: 85
    AUD: 78
    REG: 84
    BEC: 89

Riley_N, you might be right, but I have seen a lot people here taking Audit more than twice, and that kisses your theory goodbye.
