Hey everyone,
I have been looking at some industry opportunities to start my accounting career. My focus has been on public because I want to make sure that wherever I end up working has a fairly clear cut road to professional growth. However, I am also a little worried that I will not receive an entry-level offer before I am done with my MSAC program, which I feel is a predicament due to the fact that I do not have actual accounting experience.
I came across a posting on craigslist for a project accountant. The role seems really cool because you are responsible for facilitating the accounting tasks for a group of clients. It is a very client-interfaced position and also requires use of other business skills/practices. I am probably going to apply for the position, but I want to get the opinions of more experienced people on here so that I can make a determination if this is a good move IF I happen to get a shot at interviewing.
My major concern is that there is no career growth potential. I have a history of getting into jobs where you hit the ceiling very early on and that is what led me to get my MS and try for my CPA. I am fairly ambitious and I want to take my career as far as possible.
Is anyone here a project accountant? Does anyone have any insights that may be useful to my situation?
