GutiParticipantI just saw a post similar to this one, so I just changed the title to what was your reaction when you failed.
FAR- After I saw my grade (71) I just kept telling myself that I was smart until the age of 25. Now at 37, everything is just so hard to accomplish. And I also cry like a little b,,,
I think 80% of all of you who have been able to get between 70 to 74, would have passed the exam, if you would have taken it before 2011. Back then, the MC was 70% of the exam, a memo worth 10%, and the simulations were only 20%. I was able to pass FAR and REG with a score of 79% in two windows BACK IN 2006. Now I can’t pass FAR in 5 months.

AnonymousInactiveBahahaha I see nobody wants to respond. I'll go first!
I was sitting in a silent room with about 4 people I did not know, so I couldn't tell anyone what was happening. I saw the 69 and my heart started pounding out of my chest. I did a few breathing exercises to calm down. I was immediately angry at everyone around me for some reason, but I soon remembered that it was my fault that I did not pass. I think I had a stronger reaction to my fail than my pass!

zumbasweetyMember@bronxbombers2-I got the same score as you on the same exam! Stupid Audit. Anyway, I hit refresh, saw my failing score and my boss immediately walked in asking me tax questions. I was trying to answer and not show any emotion, but I sucked at it. I finally told her after we were finished with our tax discussion and of course, she was sad for me.
I just got my second fail today of a 71. I actually had a feeling it was coming b/c BEC felt like Audit to me and for some reason, those subjects are giving me fits. I'm still very, very sad, but trying to press on. I bought the Ninja MCQ today and have gotten through chapter 1 today. I am so sick of studying…

Dan TParticipantI was at my desk at work when I checked to see my second fail in FAR, I just stared at the screen for a few seconds then put my head down for like 10 mins thinking of how much this ruined my plan (taking reg in Jul, enjoying some summer off from studying, going out to celebrate) I was upset for quite a bit but since it was a late release I wasn't at work too long after, I would have been so unproductive. i went out that night anyways and boozed.

DParticipantLet's see. I was at work. It was about 2:30pm, I was looking forward to getting off by 4pm.
I checked NASBA for the 10000000 time, right after posting in the “BEC Bubble Thread” that I still didn't know my score. Then I found out I got a 72. For the third time in a row.
So… I spent the next 30 minutes kind of staring into space. Then didn't get out of work until 5pm.
At this point, I'm upset about fails but I'm almost numb to them. I don't know if thats a good or a bad thing. Its almost like a cruel joke that I would get the same score 3x in a row.

DParticipantAnd Gian… your comments about what it was like back in 2006 make me feel a bit better. 🙂 However I guess truth is we still need to all meet that bar and get over what they consider 75% now.
But still.. makes me feel a bit smarter.

GutiParticipantIt would be cool to have a tween brother. And share the exam two parts each, but then again, they can get you because of the finger prints. I'm surprise we don't have more stories. I always see more people failing a part and then passing. I guess people don't want to remember the nightmare.

Kel Kel KelParticipant@Gian- You can do this at any age. I just turned 40 and just passed the exam. BEC gave me some trouble. When I missed the exam by 1 point I was heartbroken. Then I retook and scored lower with a 71. With perseverance I studied hard and passed my last exam. Don't let you age be a mental hurdle- you can do it!

hustlehardMemberI remember that BEC was my final exam. I had passed everything else on the first try. I took BEC last as it was supposed to be the easiest (according to some). Well it was the hardest test for me and I was angry after failing BEC for the 2nd time. I thought that there was an AICPA conspiracy to keep me from passing.
All of my life I never have gotten too emotional about anything, but after receiving that 2nd failing score of 73 (x2) I could feel a tear flowing down my cheek. Worst feeling of my life at that point. Was down in the dumps as FAR and AUD credits were about to expire. However, third time was a charm.

AnonymousInactiveI included this in the other Grade Reactions thread, but I figured I'd post it here too since this is a Fail reaction thread.
My second exam was FAR. I had passed REG with a pretty decent score and I felt ok about FAR when I left the testing center. Score release day rolled around……….74.
I was crushed. It took every ounce of self control to not cry at work, and I'm generally not a very emotional person. Thankfully there were not many people at work that day, and those who were there were all very supportive.
I couldn't concentrate on anything the rest of the day. All I wanted to do was go home. I felt crushed. It took all the steam out of me after a strong start with FAR.
After giving my self a couple days to refocus, I jumped right back in and did my re-take a few weeks later. Didn't improve my score by much, but I had passed. My coworkers laughed about this for a while – my reaction to passing my retake was louder than my reaction to passing my final part.

HeartsMimiCPAParticipantWhen I failed I cried. Even though I thought I was “prepared” for a failing grade I wasn't. I hadn't gotten a 65 on a test since middle school history so I didn't take the news well.
I also cried when I passed.

taxman89Participantfirst time i took Audit (last may) i had a whole bunch of person stuff going on (wife and i had to leave our apt and were staying with inlaws for the 2 weeks before the test). so i didnt get a ton of studying in the last two weeks. studied prolly about 30-40 ours in the 3 days before the test….major cram sesson. had no clue coming out of the test how i did. we were gone on vacation with my family when scores came out so i was with my entire family when i found out i totally bombed. it was really frustrating (like most people on here i didnt really fail things….ever lol). retook it in nov after personal life and job settled down a bit and felt better about it coming out but still wasnt sure. failed it again. and went into like 2 weeks of self loathing studying. continued the self loathing studying through Jan and feb (jan is busy for me). got my score after my third aud attempt while driving to visit friends. my reaction was pure relief followed by “about time dumbass”.(yeah i know…not right lol). when i found out i passed BEC (after bubbling for 3 days) it was again just relief. I am thinking i will prolly enjoy the fact that i have passed the tests at some point but prolly not until a couple months after i pass the last section

MintsRGoodParticipantThe first time I failed FAR was the fail that I took the hardest (the 74 just REALLY pissed me off!!!!) because I had felt so confident going in and out, plus I had just passed both evil audit and BEC in the previous window. I was experiencing this kind of “runners high” so to speak so I was sure I'd nailed it! I was already planning my victory celebration and googling stationary with MintsRGood, CPA and such. Kiss. Of. Death. I was driving home from work when the scores were released and I checked with my phone at the gas station. I was actually pumping my gas when I saw the 72 and burst into uncontrollable sobs at the pump; ha! I got some pretty strange looks, let me tell you!!!! I bet they thought “poor girl must have got dumped or something”! So embarrassing then but really funny now! 😉
