When is it ok to drop your GPA off of your resume? I have two years work experience. I had a 3.43 GPA.

I like this question…..I had a 2.5 GPA but am three years removed from college and passed the CPA exam. I just tried dropping my GPA off of my resume because I think it was hurting me, but I have had people ask about it.

I don't think there is a hard rule for this, but I'm leaving mine until I'm licensed and have at least five years of experience. It's high, but at some point it is going to become irrelevant. However, I've seen resumes for professionals with over 20 years of experience and a license include their GPA, but they were cum laude or something.

Myself, I feel like GPA says “I'm a fresh college grad”. I never had mine on my resume, but would've definitely removed it after the 1st job out of college.

I could see leaving “Cum Laude” etc. on for as long as you like next to the degree and would probably drop off any specific numbers after a few years; sooner if those specific numbers either don't add anything (3.0 range) or might hurt (sub 3.0 range).

I would not put the 2.5 on my resume, ever… I'd say after 2-3 years of work experience and I'd drop it. I actually kept mine on for just over 3 years. I also dropped my education from the top to the bottom of my resume.

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!

After 2-4 years experience, depending on the strength of that experience, I'd say to take it off, unless it's like a 4.0…even then, the honors title (i.e. XXXX cum laude) is more than enough. So yeah…just take it off after a few years.

I was cum laude, and unless you're a fresh college grad I can assure you it does nothing for a resume. Seriously once you have more than 3-5 years professional experience not a single employer cares about anything except what did you do for your prior employer and how will that benefit us?
