MemberI just took my Reg last Friday and to be honest, I never had so much confidence in an exam before and I think this is the one.
Anyways, I was recalling something during my exam. I know I’m not suppose to repeat questions that I got on the exam, but the question itself is too short to memorize and plus, I got it twice. I swear to god. I don’t recall the options because I was confident my answer was right.
When I got it the second time, 3 things hit me hard.
1) Is the exam mocking me?
2) Did I get it wrong the 1st time?
3) Are they calling me stupid and giving me a 2nd chance?
Anyways, I just found it weird, but anyone ever got this before?
Apologies to Jeff if this is against the rules… o_O;

ParticipantI would be worried to get the exact same question, because it is usually not exact. It might change the% or change the order of answers, or ask for a different calculation. I mean but if you say exact, then hope it's the question to get correct to get the coveted 75 or maybe it's a one of those sample questions that doesn't get a grade.
It begins with a 75

InactiveIn every single exam I've taken, I've had at least two of the same question in different testlets. One exam, I had the same question in all three testlets. And each time it was a simple question like”
Which one doesn't belong?
A. Apple
B. Banana
C. Carrot
D. Orange
So I'm pretty sure I got those multiple questions right, but since we don't get to see what we got right or wrong, we'll never know for sure.

MemberWell, it could be C because that's the only vegetable and the others are fruits. But it could be D, because that's the only one where the letter label doesn't match the first letter of the word. It could be B because banana is 3 syllables when all of the rest are 2 syllables.
LOL

ParticipantI've always wondered about this. Not to freak people out, but are you 100% sure they are 100% the same questions?
In WTB (which I believe gets a lot of questions from the AICPA released questions), there are questions about the same company, so at first it may seem like a duplicate. But in the end they ask for 2 different answers.
Like these:
“SCF-0032: Roe Company is preparing a statement of cash flows for the year ended December 31, year 2. It has the following account balances:
12/31/Y1 12/31/Y2
Machinery $250,000 $320,000
Accumulated depreciation—machinery 102,000 120,000
Loss on sale of machinery 4,000
During year 2, Roe sold for $26,000 a machine that cost $40,000, and purchased several items of machinery. Machinery purchases for year 2 amounted to ?”
“SCF-0018: Roe Company is preparing a statement of cash flows for the year ended December 31, year 2. It has the following account balances:
12/31/Y1 12/31/Y2
Machinery $250,000 $320,000
Accumulated depreciation—machinery 102,000 120,000
Loss on sale of machinery 4,000
During year 2, Roe sold for $26,000 a machine that cost $40,000, and purchased several items of machinery. Depreciation on machinery for year 2 was?”
Same company, same info. But the first question is asking for how much does machinery purchases for year 2 amount to and the second question asks for the depreciation.

Member@longnguyen87: I think so too 😀
@Cracked: Yeah, but in my case, there was no calculation involved. If I got a calculation, I would probably redo it again and think really, really carefully.
@mla1169: Yeah, sorry about that. The question was too short and simple. It was one of the easier ones that I got from CpaExcel as well (not WTB), so I thought it would be okay. Guess not, my bad. ;(
@sewatk01: Amen to that. I also hope I get the same thing on FAR as well. 3 Easy, Repeated questions that I have 100% Confidence in with no Calculation involved whatsover. 🙂
@Lindrobe: I'll take an ok score anyday. As long as that ok score is higher than 74…
@pia ach: It does make you wonder though, does the computer ever not have a matching formula so that they won't be any repeated questions? Typing up the function for this process would be rather simple if it's just based on question id comparing and whatnot. Another thing that came to me, is what if they was a way to test our consistency? You got it right the first time, but you changed it the 2nd time? No points for you!
@tncincy: Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's the exact. I'm only 90% sure the options/answers are exact, but I know the question is the same. I did type out the question out, but apparently it got modded (even though it's one of those simple questions from CpaExcel). Yeah, let's hope that will get me more points instead just no extras.
@clarissa: True that. After reading the all the responses here, I'm not sure how I should feel now that I know I'm not the only one that got it. Too much of the whole process is just a big question mark.
@liss_ will_be_a_CA_CPA: Yeah! I know what you mean! There's always a hidden/key word in there that just changes the whole process. Sometimes, they would take out a paragraph and put 1 or 2 new sentences in asking for a totally different thing. However, in my case, it was just 1 simple question. I would repeat it, but I can't. How about this. Tell me the difference between these 2 questions:
Which of the following is an Animal?
Which of the following is an Animal?
No trick/change in there right?
@yourmomsaCPA: *Slowly waves 1 hand in front of your face* The answer is B!
