Hi Guys! I’ve been following Another71 for a while now as i have been preparing for the CPA. I’ve taken Audit (awaiting results, 2/1/2014) and am preparing for Far (2/28/14) as we speak. Just curious, because I have taken both a CPA exam as well at the GMAT, what kind of scores on the GMAT have passing or failing CPA’s received. I know one person that got a 500 on the GMAT that passed all 4 sections first try. Maybe there is no correlation, just curious. I got a 550 on the GMAT, but have prepared 100X more for the CPA.

    Thanks!

720 on the GMAT from the 1st try

FAR 72, 82 – studied for FAR much more than for the GMAT

I think the GMAT doesn't require special knowledge.. it tests common sense and your ability to think. For the GMAT you don't need to memorize tons of stuff. Math is pretty basic.. verbal part is a bit boring ))) lol the hardest part on the GMAT (at lease for me) was not to fall asleep reading paragraphs of their retarded texts…

    NYC, NY
    FAR - 82 Jan 2014
    AUD - 86 Apr 2014
    BEC - 77 Aug 2014
    REG - 79 Nov 2014

710 on the GMAT. Passes AUD, BEC, REG on first attempt. Finishing up my MAcc and studying for FAR now.

I don't think you study for the GMAT. You can practice, but it's not really applied knowledge…it's reasoning. So I don't think you can correlate GMAT scores and success on the CPA exam.

I have very bad grammar and I never took a geometry class. I think two months prep would improve my GMAT score.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"
