Tomorrow the world comes alive, when the largest sporting event in history kicks off in Brazil. If you combine the net worth of the 11 players that will be on the field, you will get the following=

    Group-G

    Germany (810 Million)

    Portugal (425 Million)

    Ghana (82 Million)

    USA (80 Million)

If you were to sell each player in Europe, the nation with the highest net worth will be Spain at 1.2 Billion dollars follow by Brazil (970 Million), Argentina (818 Million),Germany (810 Million),Belgium (667 Million),France (570 Million),England (433 Million), and Italy (427 Million).

Do we have any Soccer fans here? Since everyone here likes numbers, I thought I should include what each nation’s footballers are worth on the open market. Do we have a chance to qualify out of this group? Is there a bigger chance to pass all 4 parts of the CPA exam in 2 weeks then for the US team to win the World Cup?

You know what, I'm surprised we held them to 2…could've been WAY more…should've been 0 if the rest of the team had showed up to play some defense…

    defense wins games

The dream is over. The WC is not an easy tournament. You play against a lot of First and third world countries where soccer is more than a game; it is a way of life. Kids start playing soccer at the age of 5 in most of these countries and they dont play any other sport. Belgium was a better more talented team, and the only way the US will have a decent team is when soccer becomes more popular.

    USA RIP!

I read today in the WSJ that the US has more youth players than anywhere else in the world, except China.

    We'll be back.

The problem is when they get older, they start playing other sports,or they just stop playing it.. This is the reason why Soccer is not even popular in High school. Now we have to wait another 4 years ;(

I don't know where you're from, but soccer is quite popular in HS.

I think the popularity will rise as more parents shy their kids away from football due to head injury issues.

Back When I was in High School (south Florida), soccer was not popular and I don’t think it is now. If it were, we would have a lot more followers than we do now. I do agree with you in the fact that when parents shy their kids away from football due to head injury issues we will have more soccer players.

Right, it better get popular in next 10 years, there is no way my son plays football

They tried to popularize it by bringing Beckham in, but it's really not about that. They should have a marketing concept that would promote beer consumption in front of the tv set with friends while watching soccer

I definitely wish I was one of those people who got all 4 exams done in 4 months, but unfortunately LIFE (being a newlywed, stress, adjusting to newlywed life and cpa exam study life, as well as starting a job with a Big4 which I am very happy about) got in the way, just happy that I am passing period!!

Ok. I'll concede. Soccer can be very entertaining when in a room full of avid soccer fans. We met up with family friends over from Costa Rica to watch the game today and their passion was contagious. I actually started caring about the game at some point. Sad that it didn't end well for them. I see what you guys are talking about. And I recant my earlier statement–soccer is not as boring to watch as tennis. 🙂
