Frustrating CPA Licensing Experience – Rant

I’m here to rant a little bit about my board of accountancy.

I worked hard, passed all my CPA exams within a year, and got more than enough work experience before deciding to apply for the license.

One of my former supervisors lives over 500 miles away so I had him sign my record of experience form and send it to me through email. Today I get an email from the person processing my CPA application that they won’t accept a “copy” of the record of experience form – they want the original. I have explained to them that it’s not a photocopy, it’s the actual form that was signed and emailed to me.

What sucks about this, the document I sent them is enough to get me prosecuted if I had faked it, but it’s not enough to get me license. I now have to somehow find a way to get the physical form signed and mailed to the board.

We’re in the 21st century. Asking people to go to so much trouble over one piece of document that could easily be verified is just being a pain for no reason. I’m very disappointed. End of rant.
