AJG38ParticipantWith football season around the corner, curious to hear foreign (Non-Massachusetts) reactions to the Tom Brady suspension being upheld, which is a total travesty.
Kiss the rings (especially to all the Colts/Jets/Broncos/Ravens fans out there)…..Go Pats!

AJG38ParticipantI just can't wait for the real football to start again; training camps end of this week….does look bad, especially allegedly intentionally destroying your phone (come on Tom!), but the penalty is a significant overreach given the past year in poor punishments…….I'm hoping for an injunction so TB12 can play the whole year, win a Super Bowl, then retire, drop the mic on the suspension right it Goodell's ugly face, bam!!

knicks92Memberthe guy destroyed his cellphone after the nfl announced it wanted to use it in their investigation lol. The question isnt is he guilty or innocent. Now its is he guilty (did he know about the deflated balls or tell someone to deflate the balls) or very guilty (did he deflate them himself)
Tough times don't last. Tough people do.

MissyParticipantI would literally roll on the floor laughing if he produced the cell to an actual judge and said he only told that hack Godell that he destroyed it because he was under no real obligation to provide it.

SkynetParticipantHmmmmm…..
With Brady out 4 games, the Jets might have a shot a winning the Superbowl…

SkynetParticipantYou know what, I apologize to A71 for making the statement about the Jets winning the Superbowl. It was late and I wasn't thinking too clearly.

AnonymousInactiveBased on the information made public to this point the punishment seems well deserved. Not for just manipulating the air pressure in the balls but for his demeanor through the whole process.
I have faith that the NFL is using this as a turning point to set a guideline that this poor behavior is not acceptable from any league member and will start handing down some real punishments in the future. The most embarrassing part of this whole ordeal is the fact that other players in the past have gotten off with slaps on the wrists for real crimes. It's time to clean up the reputation and image of the league.

AnonymousInactiveOk full disclosure … I am a HUGE Pats fan and Esp Brady (although I am in GA … I am from New England so not a bandwagon fan) anyway … Think about this in terms of an Audit … More probable than not? Sorry I couldn't issue a qualified opinion on that basis. I may issue unqualified with an except for … but no way is that punishment fitting the supposed crime.
If you want to talk about the phone he destroyed … He is was under NO obligation to hand it over, just as Gooddell could be the Judge, Jury and executioner in the Arbitration hearing. Therefore going to court is the best option, Brady hands over phone records, lets not pretend that in this day and age of technology that those texts are gone for good, and someone other than the NFL decides.
Sorry for the rant but sometimes people are SO quick to believe anything bad but question the good … And I agree no one in the NFL is a “choir Boy” even Payton Manning.

cpagalParticipantI disagree and think that Tom Brady has handled this whole situation with class. He is part of a union, and the NFL commissioner cannot go against the guidelines they agreed upon with the union just because he wants to. Tom released a statement today about the cellphone….
“I also disagree with yesterdays narrative surrounding my cellphone. I replaced my broken Samsung phone with a new iPhone 6 AFTER my attorneys made it clear to the NFL that my actual phone device would not be subjected to investigation under ANY circumstances. As a member of a union, I was under no obligation to set a new precedent going forward, nor was I made aware at any time during Mr. Wells investigation, that failing to subject my cell phone to investigation would result in ANY discipline.
Most importantly, I have never written, texted, emailed to anybody at anytime, anything related to football air pressure before this issue was raised at the AFC Championship game in January. To suggest that I destroyed a phone to avoid giving the NFL information it requested is completely wrong. “
I mean, when I get a new cellphone, I completely wipe out my old one. Don't you? And if it is broken and can't be wiped, wouldn't you destroy it?
Here is another quote from his statement ” I respect the Commissioners authority, but he also has to respect the CBA and my rights as a private citizen. I will not allow my unfair discipline to become a precedent for other NFL players without a fight. “

tcheney3ParticipantHe shouldn't take it to court. Four games won't kill their season and most of them are against bad teams. The longer he drags this out, the more it will tarnish his image.

MissyParticipantOf course he should take it to court, this isn't about the 4 games, its about Godell playing God, having a ridiculously arbitrlary set of rules, creating a pattern of doling out punishments and then changing his mind (hello, Ray Rice?) and some insane delusion that his is a court of law (“tampering with evidence?” Where is it documented that NFL players are obligated to turn over their personal cell phones to that egomaniacal hack at his discretion?)
Its not going to tarnish his image, at all. People absolutely worship Brady OR hate him and never want to see him play again. There is no in between. Pats fans could watch a video of him kicking a puppy and find a way to justify it, haters gonna hate even if Brady is completely exonerated.

AnonymousInactiveI think there is a misconception. Everything I have heard about it says even if it goes to court the only thing they will be ruling on is if the process was fair. So taking it to court won't determine tom brady's innocence or guilt it will only be based off of fairness of the process. However my guess is the players union agreed to this process and as long as Goddell followed that process, Tom Brady has no chance in court.
I'm from Iowa. I'm a Titans fan. I could care less. To me its no different than offensive lineman or WR's cheating. Everyone does it. So I don't think he should be suspended but I don't think this suspension is going to be changed even if it goes to court.
If the players really want this fixed the union will fix it in the next negotiations. Don't let Godell do the punishment and also the appeal.

GatorbatesParticipantA text conversation, on the record, by Patriots' ball boys:
Jastremski: Can't wait to give you your needle this week 🙂
McNally: F–k Tom….make sure the pump is attached to the needle…..fu-kin watermelons coming
Jastremski: So angry
McNally: The only thing deflating sun..is his passing rating
Guilty, guilty, guilty. Tom is as shady as they come, and he gets even worse by continuing to deny it. If he stood up and just said, “screw it, I did it. I am wrong”, a lot more people would like him.
I hope they go 0-16 this year and he tears an ACL in Q1 of Game 5.

tcheney3Participant@Ajmallie You are correct that there won't be anymore evidence introduced, but him taking it to court will mean the whole ordeal will still be on Sportscenter and radio talk shows for a longer period of time. Goodell may overreach, but that doesn't mean Brady shouldn't be suspended. He isn't going to win in court and his failure to take responsibility for his knowledge of the deflation of the footballs, in addition to having his assistant destroy his cell phone, has forever engrained an asterisk on his legacy. I used to be a Brady fan. No longer.
