[CPA Exam] Try to be there 30 min earlier than the actual exam time. Sometimes it takes longer to check in than you think.

Always allow plenty of time for simulations on FAR.

[CPA Exam] When you get the sims portion, make sure to read the question first. Sometimes, the information prior to the question isn't necessary in answering the question. Also, in doing this, you will know what to look for as you read the content. The test is already overwhelming enough. There's no need to add to it. Best of luck!

[cpa exam] Complete as many multiple choice practice questions as possible before the exam!

(CPA Exam): I highly recommend that during your 10 minutes before the exam starts that you write at the top the times that you want to have comp, teed each section…that way you stay on track and are sure to allow enough time to complete the simulations

For example: 3 hour exam, say you want to allow 30 minutes for each multiple choice section and then 90 minutes for the simulations. Assuming 3 simulations allows 30 minutes for each…

You would write: 2:30, 2:00, 1:30 multiple choice
    1:00, 0:30, 0:0 simulations

    [CPA Exam]:
MCQ TIP #1 Don't waste valuable seconds reading the question over and over again. Instead, focus on the answers… Find which 2 answer choices are most similar to one another. You will choose between these 2, so identify their small differences. Recalling what you have learned, you can usually eliminate one of them.

MCQ TIP #2 I ALMOST always immediately discount answer choices with “absolute” words in them (i.e. words like “always” or “never”)– because, let's face it, there is an exception to nearly every rule. (Did you see what I did there? “I ALMOST always…” LOL.)

DIVING INTO THE SIMULATIONS: As soon as I start my SIMS, I like to budget time and minimize surprises by flipping through each SIM, flagging the scary ones, and working through the ones with calculations first.

WRITING FOR BEC: Type fast, but don't throw away the free points for good grammar, simple syntax, direct diction, and other basic adult communication skills… If you only remember a little bit about a topic, write as much as you can about it. (Remember: You are trying to convince Mr. Test Grader that you know your stuff! Every little, relevant, well-delivered fact will help your cause!)

    GOOD LUCK, TESTERS!

    BEC – 76
    AUD – 83
    REG – testing 11/7
    FAR – testing early 2017

Try and leave two weeks before exam date for an extensive review.

(CPA Exam): When studying multiple choice questions from Becker, I find it helpful to print them to PDF for my use and then launch Adobe pro to combine them all into one master PDF document.

You can then use Excel's Random number formula to come up with interesting sequences of multiple choice questions to study. Start typing =Rand into a cell and then pick the “rand between” function and enter page 1 through however many pages are in your Master PDF document. Copy this formula into several cells (They will keep changing to new random numbers). Just type the random page number in the PDF doc to go to the next random question. It's more challenging than just flipping through in order.

    Happy studying!

[CPA Exam] If you are losing motivation to study, try to remember why you are studying. After that work a ton of MCQ. Even when you are just starting out, try to work at least 100 questions a week.

[CPA Exam] when in the review phase and taking the final 4-hour practice tests, try to mimic the conditions of the actual exam. That means taking the practice test at the same time of day, without interruptions, and making note of how many bathroom breaks you take (since these can take anywhere from 10-15 minutes due to check-out/check-in procedures).

(CPA exam) Take a breath and slow down and really read the MCQs. The extra few minutes you takever could mean the extra points to pass.

Interviews. Two great follow up questions

    1) What was your biggest surprise when you first started your job at the xyz company? and looking back what would have you done to prepare for it?
2)What are your expectations for a new associate after 60 days at the firm?

I find that stressing too much during the exam is bad. If you have enough time, use the restroom to reset by washing your face and relaxing during your break. DO NOT Burn too much time and not leave enough time for simulations. An hour for simulations is typically not enough. Work the MCQ's so that you leave at least 90 minutes. Write on your pad the times you should finish each section so that you can manage the time.

[CPA EXAM] POUND KEY METHOD- Pound it into your head

Study Strategy- Do it right*(WELL) the first time.
    1. Don’t leave a chapter until you feel you have in-depth understanding of it. Go over each section multiple times whether it be reading, writing notes, flashcards, listening to the same audio/video over and over again until you are ready to actually do the MCQ and feel you can at least get 65-80% first right the first time around.

    2. Try not to go through a test bank more than thrice (1. Baseline, 2. Problem/ISSUE, 3. REVIEW)

    3. Always budget a week or two in review time as at this point you should know if you need to reschedule and pay an extra $35 which is better than the alternative….
