im currently using Gleim software… and the computations in the Variance and cost allocation sections are rather intensive and rigorous… should I expect to see such detailed material on the test, generally speaking?

I know gleam has a reputation for overkill, and that has been my experience for REG and FAR… and im hoping this is the case for BEC as well.

also, how solid are the Ninja Notes for BEC?

    thanks all

LOVED! the Ninja notes for BEC- probably my most favorite notes out of the 4. I didn't use Gleim for BEC but I would say the more rigorous the better. (I still have nightmares about BEC)– You really do need to know this stuff inside and out because the test mcq's are beyond random and if anything I found the mcq's “lacked details” needed to answer- more than any of the other exams. So instead of having to weed out irrelevant information like you had to in FAR and REG you were having to infer information not given. Thus personally I think the more information you have learned the better you are able to interpret what they want and make an educated guess. GOOD LUCK!

and they ask me why I drink...

FAR- 61-next time I'll ask for lube instead of a calculator
REG-75- Never been so happy to see such a low grade
    BEC- 8/11
    AUD- 9/2

I'm using Becker and am having the same issues with the Cost Accounting MCQ's – they are horrendous. However, if I have a really lengthy MCQ I will just guess, so i can view the solution. Then, I understand how to solve for a similar future MCQ. This strategy saves me a lot of time because often the MCQ's are more similar to a Sim.

Yes – Gleim's BEC questions are tough as they come. I don't think you should worry too much about getting that detailed of questions on exam day. However, I was very successful using Gleim because of how details their questions were. They definitely make the exam questions seem much easier. In fact, BEC was the only exam (other than my second AUD attempt) I took that I walked out of knowing that I passed.

As for the Ninja Notes, absolutely get them and write them out. For $67 you can't go wrong and they are very good for giving a much less detailed overview of the material.

FAR: 80 (Gleim, Ninja Notes, Ninja MCQs)
REG: 87 (Gleim, Ninja Notes, Ninja MCQs)
BEC: 87 (Gleim, Ninja Notes, Ninja MCQs)
    AUD: 8/27/16

I personally loved the BEC notes. Passed with just Ninja MCQ and the notes. BEC is just one of those exams you need to do a ton of MCQ because its just a grab bag of different questions/topics

I used the Gleim MCQ and took the exam a couple weeks ago. The questions on the exam seemed much simpler than Gleim's. Except for the IT questions – they were super random.

I only used Gleim to study for BEC, and I felt it was sufficient. The problems in Gleim seemed more complex than what was on the exam.

I agree with Gleim being overkill. I saw it in REG, although I thought it was needed for me in AUD. I didn't touch it in the other sections.

As far as variances, see if Roger's method for teaching it is online somewhere, it was really good and helped me a lot. I don't remember what it was exactly, but it was something about being “SAD” if you don't pass. Standard – Actual = Difference. It was something like that and he made it to where it was easy to fill in what was what.

But for the variance stuff I saw on the exam, it was harder than what I saw on Ninja. I was surprised by that.

I used Gleim for BEC, but couldn't stand the lectures. I wrote notes from the book and used their MCs and Ninja MCs/Notes. I did a few MCs in Gleim on each chapter then used Ninja to test my strength in each section. Where I scored low I went back to Gleim Mcs.

    AUD (10/14) 62 (2/16) 83
    BEC
    FAR (8/14)71 (1/24/15)77
    REG (5/14) 69

I used CPAexcel. I read the book and did the problems–I skipped the lectures. Then I read the NINJA notes and did a ton of NINJA MCQs.

No. Test is very conceptual and I did not even study for most of calculations when I was studying and I did just fine.

If you understand them, you should be able to solve them in the exam using common sense. Although you should know them, do not sweat over heavy computation.

Actual test is easier than study material.

Ninja MCQ was sufficient for me.

Materials: Wiley book + Ninja MCQ

    FAR - 83 (Jan 2016)
    Study time: 6 weeks
    BEC - 87 (April 2016)
    Study time: 2 weeks
    AUD - 92 (July 2016), (74 Feb 2016), (72 May 2016)
    Study time: 4 (Feb) + 2 (May) + 3 (July) = 9 weeks total
    REG - (70 April 2016)
    Study time: 3 weeks
