For a first year preparer my company kind of assume I will make mistakes. Occasionally, I do see some improvements.. for example, less review notes on some clients. But I was wondering aside from looking at PY returns and asking some questions what else should I do to enhance my knowledge. A lot of time I look at last year’s info and I don’t understand why this number is there or how it was computed. I don’t wanna keep asking that question whenever I find a difference, instead to understand.. I know it all comes with experience. But are there any other advice I could get?

I feel like even after passing the REG section im not too competent. Any help would be appreciated. I really don’t wanna look for another job. Thanks

Keep trying. Be sure to really closely look at previous year's return (since that's a roadmap). And then be patient with yourself and your supervisor. You will get this stuff.

Remember, if it was *that* easy, taxpayer's could do this themselves.
