So…tell me what features you want in your study software to make it as helpful as possible.
What things do you like?
What annoys you?

. Cr: . advisory scoreFebruary 25, 2014 at 8:45 pm #520187Study MonkMemberI would like to see an option that mixes all of the topics up while still leaving instant feedback for the review stage. It's easier to get more questions right when you know what section you are working on. Its progress tests that give you instant feedback. To make that function stronger I would have an option that allows you to eliminate questions you've seen in the last X amount of days. So basically while a person is in the review stage they can go over questions without the same questions popping up.
This might be fantasy, but a function that automatically added key points/mnemonics from the questions you got wrong to a notepad. That way you can automatically have a list of notes to the areas you are weak on.
I noticed CPA excel doesn't give you %'s and uses a pie chart instead. I absolutely hate that.
I also don't like that CPA excel has only 2 or 3 questions in some sub topics. During my review phase it is highly annoying. So maybe an option to sort through a master topic and sub topics would be nice.
An option to select questions that I've got wrong before would also be awesome. Not necessarily questions that I've flagged but questions that I got wrong since starting the program. Eliminating questions I've never got wrong is a great option as well.
Just some ideas…
I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:
"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

February 25, 2014 at 9:04 pm #520189KenadaMemberI like the Old Wiley 2013 version.
1. You can do practice session and it resembles the actual exam way were you get one question at a time.
2. Improve the calculator to have a running tab – like that in the exam
3. See progress reports by chapter and also over all. – The Bar charts and %'s are great.
4. Make it easier to see how many questions per section have been answered right, not right or not attempted as yet.
5. Have the pause feature exactly like that in 2013. You click Pause and Click Play to resume. The new way is just too much work and annoying.
6. Allow us to do all the question in the section or allow us to choose how much we want to do per practice session batch.
7. Grade the SIM with part marks for what you get right instead of giving a big 0.
8. Allow me to select the answer and then click the next button to grade it. Don't grade it as soon as I picked the answer. Many times select something and then I want to think about it before I click next.
The SIM/'s I honestly felt the font size at time was too small. Make it user friendly to read.
Again let us decide how many SIM's we wanted to do.
Lastly when it comes to the research AL – make it like that of the exam in terms of its content.

I am done!!February 25, 2014 at 9:19 pm #520191samdiegoCPAMemberFor MCQ, all I need is immediate feedback and explanations. Categories. Ability to do mixed (whether it's ALL, or perhaps just Governmental & NFP). If comparing to WTB, ability to re-set “have not seen” or whatever the terminology is. When I was re-taking exams, I wish I could have cleared my previous attempts, but Wiley said you couldn't. My needs are pretty basic. I just want fast & to the point.
I don't use progress reports only because I feel like when I do MCQ, I am not giving it my 100% because I know I am not being scored. I wish I did though, so that's why I don't use the graphs/reports. I definitely see the value in them for others, however.

FAR: 83February 26, 2014 at 2:49 am #520193Study MonkMemberI would also like the option to unflag whole sections without doing it individually. I just unflagged at least 100 questions manually and unconscious left another 100 or so flagged that I already know like the back of my hand. I'm redoing all of the Becker questions right now and managing flags is kind of annoying.

February 26, 2014 at 3:06 am #520195jasonrobbinsMemberI'd like a software program/service that has the ability to weight the testing categories based on the weighting you'd see on test day.
Right now, Becker and WTB give the same weights to all subjects.
AUD- 97 1x
REG- 81 1x
BEC- 79 1x
FAR- 88 1xDONE!
10/1/12 to 2/28/14

February 26, 2014 at 7:33 am #520198ricepersonParticipant1. Don't use Java
2. Get rid of the calculator… Yes it's cool to know how to use one like the exam, but honestly… I use my windows one most of teh time.
3. I would really love to see more thorough answers on Simulations. It's cool to get the answers like Wiley does, but I feel like sometimes their explanations are vague, or they don't go step by step on how they got a number (especially in REG)
4. What everyone said about MCQs totally agree with. The journal entries would be awesome.
5. It would also be nice if you can get questions by more detailed topics. It kind of sucks when you're planning on studying a section over 4 days, want to do 10 questions on the first half, and questions bombard you from the second half.

AUD 85
BEC 80
