I work in public accounting and I have eight plus years of experience doing financial and internal compliance audits. I passed AUD and FAR, both with 82 and I did not feel they were that hard. However, I am having trouble with REG and BEC. I normally hear people saying that FAR and AUD are the two most difficult ones. I understand everyone has different skills and lines of work that make some sections be easier than others. My question to you is: From an overall perspective, which sections do you find more challenging? Thanks for your post.

For me, REG has been the most difficult because I couldn't care less about tax accounting. FAR was difficult simply because of the amount of material covered. I think BEC and AUD were the easiest for me. For AUD you just have to read the material and take notes. Once you get all the way through the reading everything just falls into place because AUD is really just a process. BEC was easy because it was interesting. I've bagged my lowest score on that one but I had a family emergency in the weeks leading up to the exam and was only able to get in about 10 hrs two weeks out.

    BEC - 05/26/2015 77
    AUD - 07/27/2015 88
    FAR - 08/31/2015 80
    REG - 11/30/2015 73, 04/18/2016 80 Done!!!

I think it's more the amount of content than the content itself that makes these exams “hard” for me. That being said AUD and BEC seemed very easy for me Bc of how little they covered compared to the other two.

I personally felt Reg was hardest due to structure of the sims. On FAR if you were unsure if an answer the sims all had answers to choose from, whereas reg typically did not have answer banks.

    FAR - 11/30/14 -79
    AUD - 2/19/15 -86
    BEC - 4/09/15 -86
    REG - 11/30/15 -87

    I'M DONE! ITS OVER! WOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

I am currently studying for REG and seem to find it way more challenging to study. Especially when it comes to trying to practice some of the sims where I only get a blank field and I pray that I enter the correct amount in the empty box. I did not feel this uneasy when studying for BEC or AUD. I was saving FAR for last because I heard that it was a very difficult exam, but now I am having second thoughts with trying to digest all of the tax regulations.

Problem with REG is that it is high in amount of information and a lot of it isn't about learning concepts, but learning concepts and then the dozens of unique way/exceptions each one can play out. For example when you were studying did you consider asking yourself what the tax treatment would be for an LLC with only one member. I studied plenty for REG, but never occurred to me to ask that question.

For me, FAR & BEC were much tougher than AUD & REG… I've been doing taxes for almost 10 years, so for REG, I just really needed to dig in a little on the tax & put more time in the BLAW.

AUD was one of those for me that I was just scoring high on from the beginning… not sure why… kinda like how with grammar there are some people that can read something & if it sounds correct, it usually is. No idea.

BEC was difficult, because, other than the cost accounting, it was all the stuff I hate! Hard to study, hard to grasp some of it…

FAR had a few topics I struggled with, but mostly it was just so much info!
