I took FAR in July and will be taking REG at the end of this month. So far, REG seems to be much harder to study than FAR because there are so many thresholds to remember!!

Anyone who has taken both REG and FAR- which one did you feel was harder come exam day??

    AUD- 99
    FAR- 93
    BEC- 90
    REG- 94

REG, but don't focus on every threshold. There are only a handful you need to know. I struggled with REG because of all the Business Law.

I felt that REG was more difficult to study for as well. Judging by your Audit and FAR score just repeat the same process for REG. I studied for each case exam pretty much the same way and it worked out.

    FAR - 91
    REG - 88
    AUD - 98
    BEC - 88

FAR was definitely much harder for me. FAR sims make REG sims look fun

Depends on your experience and what comes easier to you. FAR was easier for me. There was a lot more information (topics), but most of it was familiar at least. REG was like an entirely new subject that I hadn't studied before. Don't stress about the thresholds. There are so many, but you will remember a lot of them just by doing more and more MCQ and many of them change so they aren't likely to shop in the exam database or else the questions would have to be updated more frequently.

    AUD (08/24/13) 65 (11/13/13) 85

    REG (07/19/14) 69 (11/29/14) 87!!

I liked studying for REG but I'm a tax guy so it was easier for me to understand. Don't focus too much on the Business Law parts of the exam as these are only tested up to 20%. I thought all of the questions that I had related to business law were fairly easy, definition-type questions. I think someone already mentioned this but don't worry too much about the thresholds as the exam wants you to know the concepts and not necessarily a threshold, which is purely memorizing.

    Good luck!

    REG - 82
    AUD - 83
    FAR - 84
    BEC - 81

    DONE!

Thanks for all the advice! I have about 3 weeks to review for REG so hopefully I can fit it all in!

3 weeks for pure review? You should be fine.

I thought REG was harder because the topics were more foreign to me as a non-tax accountant, and questions couldn't necessarily be reduced down to best answers by applying accounting principles (the way you could in FAR).

REG is very rule based and the exam was good at challenging your understanding of the rule.

@Gabe- yes 3 weeks to re-read and review. I took the Becker class last week so I already went through the chapters once with the class and did about 1,000 mc questions. My exam is on the 27th of this month, so until then, I have time to re-read the chapters in more detail and do more questions.

    AUD- 99
    FAR- 93
    BEC- 90
    REG- 94

I agree with Gabe. If you have 3 weeks to review then you should be fine. Work more MCQ, reread or rewrite notes on your weaker topics. You've got this!
