I’m planning to sit for FAR again towards the end of Q1. I only studied for a month or so for my first attempt which did not go well. I only took it serious for around 2 weeks during that month of studying.

How many weeks do y’all think I realistically need to get ready for this exam? My employer is allowing me to study for 5 hours or so per day. This is my last exam, and I want to make sure I am DONE this quarter. I will start looking at FAR 1 the rest of this week, but won’t really get into a study groove until Jan. 2nd.

@Fratty Redneck Congratulations on being 75% of the way through the exams! You're almost there! I certainly think that FAR requires more than a month of preparation (or, in your case, 2 weeks of solid studying). If you schedule it for the end of Q1, that should be enough time (8 or 9 weeks). I would go further and challenge you to get in the “groove” even before Jan 2nd, if your schedule allows it. Each day that passes without studying could be detrimental. Don't get me wrong. You have to rest. I might suggest not studying on Sundays, and just make sure you meet your study goals for the week by EOD Saturday.

That's great your employer is letting you study so much during work hours. If you take advantage of that, you'll be set!

Yeah, so just make sure you have a written schedule with weekly goals of what you want to accomplish (i.e. finish X amount of material and master it by the end of a given week), then move on to the next week and it's goals.

I hope this is somewhat helpful. Best of luck to you!

I spent about 2.5 months for FAR. I read the text word-by-word, took my note, did MCQs and SIMs for each study unit. I use Gleim. This is the first round. Then I spent about 1.5 half weeks to go the 2nd round — read text and my note again and did lots of MCQs only by mixing different study units. Perfected my note from those questions I did wrong. Then in the last 3 days, I mostly read my note and did some MCQs, not heavily rely on doing MCQs, just for refreshing purpose. By the day I walked in the test center, I felt I cannot study any more. I also work full time and I study after work and weekend, and English is not my native language.

You need to spend enough time, especially on your weak area.

I studied 150 hours for FAR to pass with a 75 on my retake. I watched some lectures, read certain areas, wrote plenty of notes down, did 3,500 mcq, practiced 20 sims (printed them out to gain a better understanding and so everything is clear rather than flip back and forth between web pages). The 150 hours was with a 2 week review. I would study for 30 hours a week. After work, I would still study for an hour or two. Do 10 hours over the weekend or more if you have the time. Use the time at work better than I did. I could have used my time more wisely when I studied at work.
