FAR or REG first? Need advice from fellow ninjas, semi-outdated material

    Hi everyone,

So I have a NTS that will expire in end of September. I had signed up for AUD, BEC, and REG and have taken the first two already. I wasn’t aware until recently that REG will have an update in July (which was my target date of taking the exam) with all the new rates and etc.

I am currently using ninja study materials and RogersCPA review from 2014. I don’t think the ninja notes are updated yet to reflect the REG material post July 1st 2015.

Should I instead study for FAR first and then go back to REG, since FAR updates may not be as critical as the REG ones. I haven’t started studying since I just took BEC a few days ago but would love to jump ahead. I am slightly worried that I would not be able to squeeze in REG and FAR realistically if I took FAR first, while juggling a full time job too. 🙁

Any tips or suggestions of what I should do?

    BEC - 78
    REG - In Progress..
    AUD - In Progress..
    FAR - In Progress..

I don't think you need to worry too much about the changes that will occur in REG. I can't say whether one is easier or harder since that depends on your background. Since you're concerned about a timeframe, I would recommend taking REG. I wasn't a full-time worker, but I was full-time student in a masters of accounting program when I took these two parts. I finished REG in 4 weeks and FAR is 6 weeks. The sheer density of FAR is what made it difficult. Having time to review is incredibly important, especially for FAR in my opinion (open to debate). If you study REG I would recommend studying Business Law first, then Taxation second. This is so you can end on Taxation when you finish your review before taking the exam. This is what personally worked best for me because Business Law just stuck and made sense. I ended with Taxation because of the many “exceptions” to rules, % limitations, #'s, #'s, more #'s, etc. you have to memorize fluently. I wish you the best of luck. Just remember that you're not alone and everyone is here to support you!

    BEC- 77
    REG- 86
    FAR- 81
    AUD- (5/30/15)
