FAR Exam Question

I took FAR on 11/27 and found out today I made a 71. This is my first exam and I plan to retake the exam in January. My question is about the SIMS. If I remember correctly (because I ran out of time toward the end of my SIMS and started plugging), for instance I was given 4-6 spaces to enter my JE’s. If I only used the first 2 spaces for my JE in the third space am I suppose to put “No Entry Required” and leave everything else below blank? I want to say I remember choosing “No Entry Required” and then I was no longer allowed to choose that entry again in the same JE section (I could choose it later on in the same SIM, just not in the same SIM JE). Do you enter zeros beside the “no entry required” selection for debits and credits and then zero for all debits and credits not requiring a JE? Does this sound correct to anyone? Or am I remembering incorrectly?

On my test if a J/E was not required I just selected “J/E not required” in the first box and moved on. The instructions usually specify it. It did not say to put a 0 next to it, it just told me to select “No J/E Required”. That's all I did.

If you made a J/E and then on the 3rd line (because you only used 2 lines) put “No J/E required” then I got that wrong. I didn't put that because my thinking was I made a J/E and a J/E was required. This is a good question and unfortunately I can't answer.

Funny you mention this because I ran into the same issue, where it was unclear whether I should be leaving them blank even though I was done with the journal entry. I guess it makes sense to have left them blank

It is my understanding on the SIMs in FAR that on Journal Entry problems, empty cells should be left blank.

The ‘No Entry Required' answer should only be selected if there is no entry at all for that specific transaction. It cannot be used as a correct answer where there should just be blank rows under a journal entry.

Thanks for the replies. So if I have four lines for an entry and I only need two, then I should only put my two line items in with the debit and credit amounts and then put zeros for the credits in a debit entry and put zeros for the debit in a credit entry?

I may be making this more difficult then I should. I kind of went in the zone during my exam and dont remember much of anything. I guess looking back I must have gotten flustered and was not thinking clearly when filling in my SIMS. I do remember putting “No Entry Required” after putting in my debit and credit line items because I though that I needed to show that I was closing out my entries with zeros for debits and credits because I read somewhere that empty spaces are considered wrong spaces.
