FAR is my last exam.. I just started studying this week and finished becker chp1.. it was tough. I am coming back from AUD, where it’s all conceptual so I am having a hard time adjusting to quantitative questions.

Either way, I hope to take it end of Feb. any of you with me on this last ride?

Or any of you who passed FAR, suggestions?

    we are almost there!

    AUD: 76

REG, 72, 84 ( Becker and added on NINJA notes for retake<– they obviously helped)

    BEC: 72,80

    FAR:

If you start studying now I think you should shoot for end of January to sit for the exam. If you wait till the end of February you will have too much time to forget stuff in my opinion.

FAR is my last exam, too, and I am taking it tomorrow. If this is your first time taking it, then I think you definitely need to give yourself 2 months to study. I think the end of January would be just fine unless you're planning on taking study time off over the holidays.

This will be my third attempt, and I think studying for a little over a month has been good this time around. This will also be the first time I've studied for FAR using the NINJA MCQ, and I can tell the difference.

    B: 82
    A: 78
    R: 86
    F: 75! All done!!!

I started passing exams when I started using NINJA audio & NINJA MCQ. I have also taken all of the Yaeger CPA Review Courses.

Disagree with @almosttherecpa – two months is not enough time to study for FAR. Unless you are not working and are studying full-time, I would advise anyone to study at least 12 weeks for this exam, if only for the sheer amount of material covered. Also, factor in that we have two holidays coming up, which will likely take time away from your studies. The only issue I can see is, if you work in public, you may have trouble putting in study time during February when busy season kicks in.

FAR was the first exam I took and put in about 14 weeks, studying 2-3 nights a week and 4-6 hours on saturday/sunday. I read through the review book twice, watched all lectures once (both Roger) and did roughly 2,500 – 3,000 MCQs (no SIMS). Still didn't really feel prepared, but passed on first attempt with an 85.

Everybody is different, and while some people may need over 2 months most people at least in my experience can comfortably manage in 6-8 weeks to pass.

I did it in 6 weeks, was my first exam. In my opinion 12 weeks is much too long and there are diminishing returns as this is much more a function of short term memory than long term memory.

I studied 4 months for FAR and apparently still needed one more month to learn it more completely.

It also depends what score you are shooting for (margin of passing).

Long-term memory usually trumps short-term memory. It is your last exam, but the subject matter in FAR carries over to AUD, BEC, even some REG, so it is good to have FAR in your long-term memory.

I took 14 weeks using only CPAExcel. A solid 10-11 weeks to get through the material and the rest for a complete review. Half-way through the material, start hitting test bank questions on the topics you have already completed. That way, you keep them fresh and continually apply the material. Those last 3 weeks or so should be dedicated to reviewing notes/weak topics and smashing multiple choice by the hundreds daily.

    Good luck!

I just did a retake of FAR on Monday, it is my last exam. I studied hard for 6 weeks, work full time, have two kids and moved into my new house during this period. I don't know what more I could have learned or focused on even if I had studied for another week.

    Good luck !

thanks all for your advice- very much appreciated. I want to pass on my first try so I don't keep prolonging this even more!
