    Hello All,

    Got my AUD score this morning and it was a 71. I’m pretty bothered by this because as I was taking the test I really felt in control and that I was answering most of the questions correctly. When people asked me how it went and I told them it wasn’t too bad compared to FAR, I had some confidence in this one. On the other hand, the first time I took FAR I didn’t feel good about it at all (well, even when I passed I didn’t think I did good) so the failing score made a little more sense then. I’ve heard about AUD being a silent killer and I am now living proof of that.

    I’m not trying to make excuses because I firmly believe that if you’ve reached whatever threshold of knowledge there is to pass one of these exams, I really think it will reflect in your score. Having said that, after feeling prepared and honestly not feeling like I have any particular “weak areas”, what changes do you suggest to make in order to get to that next level of knowledge? I plan to just start from scratch and nail everything home again starting with the base of knowledge I already have on the subject. I saw with my restudy for FAR that even on the areas I thought I knew well, I was learning A LOT more about them my second time studying.

    Does anyone have a similar experience with AUD? If so, how did you bounce back? Any feedback is appreciated.

    Thanks to all for the input. My plan moving forward is to start fresh and take another hack at this like I've never seen it before. I've been in this situation before and I believe I will come out successful again. Thanks again for all of your input and best of luck to the rest of you as we all chase this dream.

    Part of the problem with the CPA exam is that you have to pay attention to every word in the question, because missing one word can throw the question entirely off and costing you the right answer. I found that I was reading the questions too quickly and missing a few words here and there, and even though I got the concept and know how to approach the question, I would still get it wrong because of that one word that I missed. So if I could give any advice, is that on the MCQs, read the question carefully and slowly. It could help quite a bit.

    @Martin

    There are plenty of good accountants who never even passed the CPA test, never mind scored in the 90s. Why attribute such nonsense to me.

    In general:
    I am suggesting that you pass the practice tests before you sit for the exams, so you have at least a modicum of confidence that you might pass the actual test. This is advice for the future. If you cannot pass the practice tests, then you are hoping for a miracle on test day, and that is fine, if that is your path.

    “I failed all the practice tests, was hoping for a miracle on test day, did not get it, but I don't understand why because the tests seemed so easy/manageable, etc.”

    It is because the test gave you easy questions, because you missed the hard ones. The CPA test is adaptive, and “adapts” to give you questions that you can answer correctly. Read up on this concept up because if you're going to be at it for a while you should at least know something about “medium and hard testlets.” It is discussed on these forum very often.

    Avoid heartache on score release day. This is postivity, not negativity.

    I got a 72 using Becker. I felt the questions were all super hard. I the purchased Ninja MCQ and did them until I got every single one right atleast once. That meant I got many right multiple times. I felt my second attempt as again super hard but scored an 87.

    Do yourself a favor and get Ninja MCQ. It's ridiculously cheap and raised my score 15 pts.
