Hi maybe someone can offer me some advice. So i work at a mid tier accounting firm top 20 in the nation. I’ve been here for about 2 years. I’ve only done 1040 and a little bit of not for profit. Some corporate and partnership but maybe only prepare 1-2 on an annual basis for corporation and partnership each. For someone who has more experience what are some of my exit opportunities if i wanna leave public? I figure only 1040 won’t get me a job outside of public and it may be too late to be preparing those return now given my level of experience now… however i just can’t see myself working on only 1040s. I guess i cant overcome my ego.. that is having people i started with being my reviewer/supervisor on the client per se.. i know if i stick with 1040 by next tax season i should be at a supervisor position..

I'm surprised that at a top 20 firm, they don't have you doing more. But you should reach out to your managers or partners and asked then for different assignments

Thanks for the response, Shine. I have done corps and partnership but because I've expressed interest in 1040's thats prob why I'm mainly doing them. I would like to go in other areas like estate planning and financial planning just so I understand more. I find it more compelling because its more relatable than a business or partnership. But yea, Ill talk to my manager and partner see if I can get a broader experience just so I dont have to get stuck in one area.

If I were to stay with just 1040's what are some options? anyone? Is this something I could ask my team partner?
