Exam date changed by Prometric, unknown reason why

I was scheduled to write FAR on Monday and have printed confirmation of this appointment. I just received an email confirmation from Prometric (the email they send 24-48 hours before your exam), that my exam is in October. I never made this change.

The test center I’m going to is currently closed (its after 5pm on a Saturday) and the Prometric call center is closed until Monday morning. I will have very little time to call them before my exam will begin. Far less, because I have to drive several hours to the test center.

Right now I’m hoping its a mistake, there is nothing wrong with the test center, and I can still write on Monday and the test center is open on Sunday to confirm.

Has anyone else encountered this? If so, what did you do to resolve it?

Just received message from Prometric, there was electrical issue at that site. So they just bumped me six weeks to next available test date.

Definitely call when they're open. They can likely get you in sooner, and while it is still a HUGE inconvenience to you, better than 6 more weeks.

That's gotta suck. At least you have extra time to study, but mentally you were probably all ready for FAR on Monday. And I second what Mia11692 said, it is a huge inconvenience and you probably won't want to deal with FAR for 6 more weeks. I wouldn't want my reschedule AUD which I am taking next Tuesday.

Can they transfer your appointment to another center for later this month? I would be so angry if they just moved my test 6 weeks. That is a huge time difference considering the time we put in for this test and other test you are going to be preparing for. I don't think that is acceptable. I would call Monday and have them move your test to another center before the 31st. Since you have to drive a long way anyway, there is no reason you can't move to another test center.

Make sure this is done for you free of charge.

    FAR - 08/30/15 - 90
    AUD - 11/12/15 - 92
    REG - 01/19/16 - 82

    Thanks for your replies!!

I just went online to check availability of appointments at other test centers within a few hundred miles. I have cancelled my October booking (for free) and rescheduled at another test center for Thursday. A further drive (now 5 hours) and higher hotel cost, but doesn't waste time I spent preparing for this exam. Also gives me an extra few days of studying and to put this out of my mind too.

i would flip out, they can't do that, if you fail now, you could take it next window, but if u fail in october u have to wait til next year to retake

    BEC 85
    FAR 75
    AUD 64,64, 86!

Where do you live?? I can't believe you have to drive that far to get to a prometric center!

I live in Canada. Closest center is three and a half hours away, but doesn't have long hours or a lot of appointment slots. Usually need to book six or eight weeks in advance to get within ten days of the start or end of a test session. So sometimes have to go a bit further to another prometric.

I have thought of using the exams as an excuse to fly to places I'd like to vacation. Write the first day I'm there and then holiday for a few days or a week. But that seems like too much of a distraction.

Keep checking the center that is 90 minutes closer. Last minute cancellations at the end of the window are very common. They should accommodate without fee if you are able to cancel the hotel reservations.
