EWS Award Questions - Page 2

I recently received my last score and found out that I was eligible for the EWS award. I was understandably excited and shared this news with my family and a few people in my office. Someone in my office told me the other day that he knew a guy who got it last year who received an email with his last score that said he was not allowed to say anything about the EWS award until they announced the winners. I didn’t receive any letter like this, and I’m a little concerned that my telling some people will have a negative impact on receiving the award. My manager has also been telling people that I received the award, so I’m not sure if I should politely ask him to stop.

Can any prior EWS award winners shed any light on this? Also, do we have to submit our final scores to the AICPA in some sort of application for the award, or do we just wait?

    Thanks!

Thanks, guys! I'm also curious about txcpa13's question.

Regarding UCMCPA's comment, someone started a thread a couple months ago who got a 95.5 and wanted to appeal his grade to try to get any extra point to be over 95.5 and get the EWS. He said the AICPA confirmed that 95.5 would be the threshold again this year. Although that could always change. Who knows.

@barely I called the AICPA too since I'm only .25 above the 95.5 requirement – I was really worried they would raise the cut off point this year, but they said it's the same every year, regardless of what people score. Hopefully that's true!

Not that it matters much since I work at one of the Big Four that don't offer any additional bonus money for the award – but it would be nice to have something to show for the summer I gave up studying for the exams!

PS: Your scores are insane. You are one smart cookie.

    AUD - 99 (5/2013)
    BEC - 93 (5/2013)
    FAR - 97 (7/2013)
    REG - 94 (8/2013)

I'm shocked that all of the Big 4 don't offer a hefty award. I know PwC gives 20k.

    FAR - 84
    AUD - 94
    REG - 86
    BEC - 86
