So this past Wednesday I filled those return that had an extension and when I am home cheking copies of the retuns I saw that one of them did not had my boss’s signature on it but had the EIN, telephone and address. I am oart to blame because is my job to take care of things like that so I am worried, is the IRS going to send a notice for 50$ penalty or this time could the IRS just send a letter requiring the signature because the return at least had the other firm’s info on it???

No offense but your spelling and punctuation make your sentences difficult to understand. In general, it sounds like you should slow down and review things carefully.

My apologies english is my second language. This past Wednesday I filed some client's returns. When I got home I reviewed some of the copies of the returns and I saw that one of them did not have the signature of my boss but did have the EIN, telephone and the address of my boss's firm. What I want to know is that in this case, is the IRS going to assess the 50$ penalty becuase of lack of the signature of my boss or if that in this case the IRS instead is going to send a letter requesting the signature of my boss. I am worried because is part of my job to check that everything is ok with the returns before filing them.

Can you be pre-emptive, get your boss to sign a copy and send that in to the IRS?

I forgot to sign my tax returns before and was told its better to wait for the IRS to send back a notice to sign then send in a second copy. I'm sure you will be required to pay a penalty as they don't care about anything but the deadlines but that is just something to learn for the future.

I am going to call the IRS first thing tomorrow and then I am going to see what I can do. I wanted to see if anybody here had that experience. Worst case scenario the IRS sends that 50$ penalty notice because of the no signature on the return later this month and if that is the case then I guess is better if I tell my boss now what happened.
