Hi! I took FAR back in October and got a 59, I see that prometrics has a space available for Feb 29, I started studying for FAR yesterday for 10 hours, at this rate do you think it’s possible to take the re-take by next Monday or should I just wait until April? I haven’t scheduled it yet, but I am tempted to, any thoughts would be appreciated? thanks

It depends. If you had taken it in November and made a 70-74, then I'd say you'd have a good shot because you wouldn't need that much to get you to a 75 (provided you remember a lot of what you originally studied). Do you remember a lot of what you studied and do you know what your problem topics are? On one hand, if you are ok with paying the fees to take it again in April if you don't pass now, and you know what areas gave you problems the first time, I'd say go for it. On the other hand, if you don't recall a lot of what you studied and/or you can't pin down the specific areas that gave you problems, I'd postpone it until April or even May. All you have to lose are the extra fees. If you happen to not pass this time, you'd still be eligible to take it in April because that is a new testing window. I hope this helps!

Sorry but if you got a 59 and havent studied what makes you think you will do any better with a weeks worth of study this time around..take a couple months and dont rush it..sit in april or may after a couple months of going over things.

You're not trying to get 16 more points, you need 75. A retake should be treated like a brand new exam. Don't count on remembering much from that long ago, and give yourself enough time.

Thanks everyone for giving me a reality check. I think I will wait, the reason I asked was because everyone around me has passed all their CPA exams pretty quickly, or their in engineering or in med school and their a year younger than me (I am 23). It seems like everyone is saving the world except me and I am getting a slight bit frustrated with all this. I thought if I really commit myself I could possibly do it in this period of time, but I have realized this morning with the help of your advice that this is not a good reason to take an exam early. Any tips on how to use my time effectively with the time I have because it is obvious from my score I do not know financial that well (my university did not offer an accounting major, just a few classes and the rest we had to take on our own (online-ish). Any extra practice I should do to get it right this time. thank you 🙂

Look at this video it was very helpful for me and gave an idea of how to create my study plan. She's a CPA and manager at Mid-tier CPA firm. She passed the exam while working at Big 4 I believe. She said she has pictures of her study schedule in her blog Web page, which should be in the description of her youtube video. I hope this helps. I used it. I take FAR in 2/27.

I tried 12 days. It required about 12 hours a day of study. I was too burnt out to do a comprehensive review (had 2 days once I got through the material). I ended up scoring a 70. I feel there are benefits to condensing the study time, but 9 days is likely going to produce a fail.

if money isn't an issue for you and you are going to study like mad until 2/29 why not take it for more practice? make the most out of this testing window, do your best on the exam and if you pass great! if not, retake it in april.

I cant believe there's another person who's in exactly same situation like me… I also have FAR in Feb 29th and got score below 60 on last July. People around me has completed each exam section every months and I felt very stupid for not passing this…

I want to postpone the exam but my NTS expires in April 1.. I had only a month to study but I dont think I am ready.. Although this is retake, my memory faded and I still dont understand a lot of concepts…

I really wish you good luck on this…
