Do you tell your significant other about all the news/gossip/drama at work? - Page 2

    We just had our Christmas party over the weekend and I realized how little my wife knows about most of the people and happenings at my work. She knows who the major players are (immediate boss and various top dogs in the office), but I don’t often go into detail about the other various personalities. I haven’t done this consciously, but I believe it stems from my feelings of trying to keep work at work so I can have a true break from it when I’m at home.

    Anyone else like this, or can you just not wait to go home and dump all the workplace drama on your significant other?

    lol, InsiWinsi. What's the old saying? Men try to fix things and women just want to blow off steam?

    I hate to admit that I LOVE tooling on our HR admin. The one who sent an email telling everyone to be sure to dress appropriately for the holiday party then showed up in jeans that HAD to have been sprayed on. Or the one who keeps purchasing gift cards for employee recognition after I've documented MULTIPLE times that gift cards are taxable and will be added to the employee's W-2. So what does she do? Buys someone a $600 gift card but claims “its ok because I was with him when he used it”.

    ohhhhhhkayyyyyyyyyy………

    My husband and I talk gossip about work. His is more interesting because he is a hair stylist by day and waits tables by night until I get done with this CPA roller coaster. The crazy unprofessional stuff that goes on in his jobs is just plain Jerry Springer entertainment. Working in accounting is not nearly as exciting, but there is drama every once in a while. When I became a manager I would tell him about my frustrations with employees but he wanted to fix everything and I just wanted to vent. Three years later he finally gets it and responds appropriately with “That Bitch!” instead of “Sweetie, you should…..”

    @mla1169–“fly their freak flag”–LOVE THAT!!!
