Different Address on NTS and ID

    Hi guys!

As per my title, I have a problem with my ID’s as they still show my old address and my NTS shows the new one.
Is the Prometric Center strict about this stuff? Or do they just care about my name on those documents whether they match or not?

    Thanks!

I think they mostly care about the name matching.
In NY the DMV uses a tiny little sticker on the back of the driver's license to show updated address information.
Literally a small hand written sticker.
Your state may have similar rules allowing new address information to be written on the back of your license.
I probably wouldn't worry too much as long as your name matches exactly.
I don't even think they checked my second proof of ID now that I think about it.

@recked, thanks so much! I'm probably just overthinking a lot of stuff now since I only have a few days left until my first exam (REG). Btw, what material did you use for REG? 96 is such a high score! Meanwhile, I only want a 75. Lol

I don't think they will make a fuss about it. They never seem to look at my address and they never check my second form of ID, they just check my name matches and have me write my launch code on a sticky note on the back of my license (they don't allow NTS into the testing room).

I would still recommend getting your license changed though. I don't know about other states, but in Florida you only have like 10 or 14 days after you move to get it changed. I'm pretty sure after that it's considered illegal to be driving with (similar to if it was expired or revoked).

@RoseMarie, thanks for the input! I'm in California, and I'm not exactly sure how this whole address thing works here with regards to Prometric checking it. I don't think I have enough time to request for change though since I will be taking the exam this Saturday already. I just hope I'll get the same experience as you guys did.

Prometric will call you 24 hours before your test to confirm everything. You can ask them when they call, or you can find their phone number and call them now just to confirm it will not be an issue, and if it is you have some time to find a fix.
Prometric staff was always pretty friendly and helpful whenever I called them.
Be friendly with them, you'll be seeing them often in the near future.
NY also has the 10 day rule, but as with most rules, they are made to be broken. Real world they are not going to arrest you or impound your car over an address… most likely.
Have you done the pencil and paper request though? If not, look into that for your next exam.

@recked, I already called the Prometric, but I think it's the customer service which answers all calls in general for all test-takers in all states; not my exact test center. Anyway, they told me that I do need to have a permission from NASBA directly for my request. I just accepted that I might not get the actual piece of paper and pencil during my exam, but I did check NASBA and it says there that Prometric should give us some laminated paper and marker pen, and I'm fine with that for now. Will definitely ask in advance for my next section (or retake).

As for the address difference, already emailed Prometric. Just waiting for their reply.

You can also call your local testing center. The phone numbers are online.
You are probably right about the pencil and paper, but the white board should be fine. FAR is probably the most writing intensive for the calculations and some of the SIMs so I'd definitely make sure you get the pencil and paper for that one.
I used Roger as my primary resource for REG, but I also have 15+ years experience in tax, and used Gleim for the EA exams in 2013/2014.
Doing a couple hunderd $K in tax returns every year surely helps on the REG portion of the exam.
