As some of you may know, I originally came to this forum as an already licensed but not certified accountant to give tips and guidance on licensing as well as other accounting related topics that I know. Up until recently, I last took the CPA exam in the winter of 2009 (AUD & REG) and wasn’t planning to take it any more in the future.
Last fall, I received a referral from a CPA that an attorney wanted to meet with me and refer some clientele to my practice who liked and trusted my expertise but was apprehensive about referring clients because I wasn’t a CPA. Well, long story short, I met with her at her office back in April and she explained why I should be a CPA in a language I could understand (she didn’t give AICPA/state CPA society style “cheerleader speeches” or empty platitudes/cliches, just spoke to me in a way that I could fully relate to what she was saying.
About a month later I began securing CPA exam study materials, and began studying for my easiest subject: Auditing. I was supposed to have taken the AUD exam July 15, but I didn’t have the funds available to pay the exam fees until July 31, so I had to double back and restudy to prevent memory atrophy. I have registered to take AUD, BEC, and REG; I will register for FAR at a later time. I took AUD on August 21, and I will explain my study story and exam experience in separate posts.
Keep the faith, baby!
AUD - 79
BEC - ?? 10/1/15 (Tentative)
REG - ?? 11/?/15
FAR - ?? Winter 2016
