My REG exam today was completely different than what was expected. All the topics I spent countless hours on never showed up. It seems like they chose only easy concepts which sucks bc I overlooked a lot of what is perceived to be easy. Not conceptual, mostly memorization. Let me just say for those who suggested to bypass blaw and ethic portion, you mustve had a completely different test.

From everything I read on here, I expected SIM to be out of this world hard but it wasn’t. Very straight forward and basic. I rushed through mc bc everyone suggested to leave at least 1.5 hours. Took me 40 mins to wrap up SIM. I wished I spent more time on the mc bc I guess on some cuz I was watching the clock like a hawk. What amazed me about the SIM was that it was a mirror image of Becker SIMs which never was the case for the other exams. As if god answered my prayers. I was most nervous about REG SIM. I couldn’t believe how familiar I was with every single SIM. Got lucky with Research question and found it within 5 mins. I was worried about that one most. NO DRS! Yay.

My suggestion for all future candidate – STUDY EVERYTHING!!

That would be my fear. Doing a quick run through of business law and ethics for my exam tomorrow as we speak. SIMs are a big part of REG though, how did they turn out for you?

Ethics is one of those things thats is in vogue these days, especially since Sarbanes Oxley.

Every professional exam I've taken is big on Ethics..It's all over the EA exam too.

Kinda sad that ethics has to be “taught”

btw mc was med-hard-hard. I say hard bc the questions got really lengthy and took much longer to answer which made me panic bc I was afraid I wouldn't have enough time for SIM. My head was spending at one point.

I'm never good at determining whether mc is hard. Maybe it was hard cuz I didn't know it well or maybe bc I did well on the first. Who knows!

Whatever will be will be. No studying for a while!

I pray to Jesus that I can get some straight forward SIMS. Now having taken 10 friggin tests, I have seen a crap ton of SIMS, and generally I find them to be either straight forward or a poke in my weak spot. My last take of REG – I finally FINALLLY understand when people say they got out of the world SIMS. My SIMS would be on topics I knew inside and out, but the question and info didn't line up. This wasn't a SIM but what I'm talking about is like this: calculate the AGI for this individual, but I'm only going to tell you how much their moving expenses were, that they had an aunt living with them, and how much interest they paid on their mortgage. You think I'm missing something right? No. I killed my MCQs just to be taken down by ridic SIMS.

Do I sound like a crazy person now? haha. Ok end rant.

My point of all this being, you sound like you nailed it.

I had a somewhat similar REG experience today. I thought most of it was straight forward and some was actually too simple that I didn't know the answer because I studied the details. Ex one was talking about a specific type of loss and blah blah I knew all the deductions and limits but couldn't remember what TYPE of company the loss even applied to! A lot of it I felt like “wow I totally SHOULD know this, I just don't.” I also felt like my testlets stayed medium but I don't know. All I know is it was pretty straight forward and didn't seem overly complex, but I just don't feel I had the info down well enough :/
