CPA not starting CPA Firm, why?

    I met a CPA the other day who operates a tax business but who has not established the business as a firm. I’m trying to figure out the advantages of not operating as a CPA Firm, I would have thought this would generate better reputation, etc. I felt too nosy to ask him why lol Does anyone know what are the advantages? I’m so curious
