Please tell if it’s the market condition or its a normal scenario..

Cauz its not that I dint got the job but the matter of fact is that I dint even got the interview call.

@WannaFree – the 2004-2007 hiring spree *anywhere* in the world is not there anymore LOL! It's hard to even get an interview nowadays. Even if you are a finalist in a position with 100 applicants, and are one of 5 or 6 interviewees, you're lucky. Eventually, everybody always gets a job. But, the great jobs are few and far between. Having a CPA license will put one's resume at the top of the stack…if you have it, you'll probably never collect a penny of unemployment money because you'll never need to. I just wish it wasn't *Hell* trying to get the CPA.
But regardless of whatever industry you're in, it seems like very few industries allow the average college grad with a bachelors degree to walk into a dream job nowadays. If it was easier, there wouldn't be so many jobless people in their 20s, and so many students with massive student loans that they can't repay because they can't get good jobs. During my parents' generation, you went to school, got a bachelors, got your dream job, bought your dream home, started your family, worked 30-35 years, retired comfortably. I don't think I'm ever gonna retire LOL! And look how many older people we see who still work? At my current job, we have 2 lawyers in the firm who are age 70+ who work 40-50 hour weeks. Maybe not because they are poor but if they stopped, their “very high” quality of living would have to cease. The world is a crazy place.

@crazyleon- well I am in the exact situation that you are taking about and trying every possible effort to get out of it…And just waiting for that one click that will get me closer to my kind off a job, though it's takin time but I am sure that my future is bright “being cpa” and will make it worthit . However summers hv started in Delhi and it's actually very demoralising when you go for a job interview.

@mhei8116 is absolutely right. You can't call yourself a CPA unless you have a license #. Do not put that on your resume either because they will do a background check and figure out you are not licensed yet and will throw out your resume & possibly report you. Instead, add a “CPA Progress” section in your resume that shows you have passed all the sections and are waiting for license.
I highly suggest getting your resume edited by someone in U.S. if you are trying to get jobs here. Resumes between India and U.S. are very different, including the use of english language. (I am Indian – albeit I grew up here, but I am very familiar with this issue).
I highly suggest taking any job you can find in the accounting field and no be too picky. Beggers can't be choosers. Once you have a year or two under your belt with the CPA license, doors just open for you. First couple of years are crucial though. Also know that most states here have requirements that you can't get your full license without 500 hours of attest & 1 year of experience. So, you may be stuck with a limited license (i.e. can't sign financial reports) until you get your hours & year experience under a licensed CPA. Hope this helps!

    Hey Mark,

    1) The Big4's particularly EY hire towards July Aug.
    2) Have you looked outside Delhi/NCR? Perhaps, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kochi. These are places where Big4's have sizable Global Delivery Centers(GDC). These are places I'd look for if I want to stay in Audit. The KPMG GDC in Kochi has aver 2000 employees and EY has over 1000. The Delloitte in Hyderabad has over 10,000 I'm told. Since US CPA's are hard to come by in India, I'm quite positive you'll be able to get in somewhere. But you may have to move out of Delhi.
