    Hi all,

    I have cleared all 4 section of exams in Dec 2016, and since then looking for jobs in India aswell as overseas but no luck so far.

    Made a mistake while leaving my small accounting job and started preparing for the exams.I thought that I will get a good opportunity in some big 4 but it’s nearly 4 months and the things are getting apart though m trying to control my emotions BT still it’s really irrating.

    Please tell if it’s the market condition or its a normal scenario..

    Cauz its not that I dint got the job but the matter of fact is that I dint even got the interview call.

    Are you a US Citizen? Are you in the US right now, as you are writing your post? If not, that's why it's probably not working out. Or, do you have a green card? Since our new idiot buffoon of a president took over, immigration and citizenship and all that stuff are way up in the air. I wish you the very best of luck. But yes, it's the “market condition” – good jobs are very hard to get, and even getting an interview is hard most of the time.

    Are you a licensed American CPA or you have the license in India?

    Unless you are either, refrain yourself from calling CPA, especially in the U.S. if you are planning to work here. You can get into a lot of trouble.

    To be honest, I doubt many people can answer as most people here live outside of India..

    Good luck with job searching!

    May be a good time for a “Trojan Horse”. Apply to another role and then move over to a desired role when you are established. Are you interested in technology at all? I expect that in India there would be plenty of Advisory opportunities within Big-4 that would be very aligned with your skill set. The thing with those roles is you don't necessarily have to be a tech genius as there are needed roles for functional and other skill sets.

    Also I have no interest in technology which is rare with Indians. BT initially I got the call from ey for transaction advisory services and I said no to it as I was waiting for stat audit hiring to start and as a result I have to wait for another 2 months ” god help” and know I m ready to work in any nearby role.. Also one of friends have shared my credentials into business modelling and m waiting for some good news from last 2 weeks..

    If you've been seeking a big 4 position for the last four months, it's probably a timing issue as most of their hiring is done summer and fall.

    @mark_sharma ,do you have CA or CWA degree too ? In India CA is almost king of Accountancy and you should enroll for CA ,it's not that expensive and as you passed CPA you can pass CA too .I noted you are also trying abroad ,that would be not easy as it will require visa sponsorship and in USA it's available only for 5 days and that too is done through lottery hence employer would not like to hire person who would need visa sponsorship.In technologies sector story is just opposite ,employers like Accenture ,IBM , TCS ,Infosys and others will like to hire person which would need visa sponsorship because they can pay less than American prevailing wages and they are expert in abusing visa laws but they will take B.Tech,MCA etc with years of experience.You can try UAE or Dubai area too as they don't have H1B type quota system.If you are interested in Dubai,you may see their ads in Sunday edition of Times of India or Khaleejtimes,com.
    Hiring spree of 2004 to 2007 is not there any more in India and it's normal to take 6 months for getting a job.

    @wannafree,
    Yor r rite that ca is kind of a king in India, wish I would have listen to my father back then,
    Though I know I can do it aswell BT doing ca is a big deal as there is time constraints while doing ca and also u have to go through articleship for year and half…and also I am off job from last 1 yr so getting real desperate for work, wanna earn and spend.

    Also I also think that dubai is a good option, I was trying to find some at indeed job, mailed my resume to some consultants aswell but no reply yet and also if anyone knows any consultant who charge for the services and helps in placement cause this week I am thinking to buy premium service of naukri.com
