Do you guys think the CPA exam deserve all this hype? I mean I am not trying to be an @ss or anything, but I feel like the exam is not impossible to pass if you study and put in the time you will pass. Do you agree?

I feel like most people on this forum are doing well, and that the majority of you are passing all four parts, and also looking at the statistics by Quarter, the passing rate is 50%+ per section in Q2, so if this is really a difficult exam shouldnt the passing rate be much lower? I mean don’t get me wrong I am happy that I passed, and that the everyone is doing well and passing and that statistics are above 50%, I just dont want this certification to lose its value over time like most of college degrees nowadays

What Anthony said-the CPA exam is a very difficult process. As most of us are working full time and have a lot of other demands on our time, it is hard because you have to study. yes, it's true if you study you will pass.. It isn't rocket science… But it does make you more of an accountant in the eyes of the world…I am damn proud of my designation:) LOL

The exam is not impossible to pass but I would never say that the difficulty is overhyped. Studying takes a good bit of hardwork and dedication for months at a time, you can't just walk into the exam and pass all 4 parts without preparing. Most people do not pass all 4 sections on the first try, even with putting in the time and effort – that in itself should tell you it is still very difficult. And as others said, I don't think a 50% pass rate is all that high… I would not take the exam or the CPA designation lightly, as it does not come easily.

If it was overhyped, every accountant and every person in finance would have a CPA license.

Are the tests impossible? No. Does that make them easy? No. It's poor logic to make that jump. Passable = overhyped is a non sequitur argument.

It's cool to hate popular things. It's cool to act like hard tasks are easy, especially when acting as such makes you feel superior to all the people who are studying, struggling with exams and working full time.

If we want to really talk overhyped…lets talk about Supreme, BAPE, BBC and Nike/Off-White collabs. That's really hypebeast stuff right there and will give you and accurate description of hype. You need to be hip to the dip to understand culture like that tho, dawg. See, anyone can act like an elite. 👍

Just an FYI on that 50%. There is a good portion of that 50% that is retake passes. Also 50% pass rate is not that high.
