Decided to look at my REG score today and found out I got a 72. I was stronger in 3 areas including SIMS and comparable in one area. This is very frustrating considering I am a tax accountant. I felt like I studied very hard and understood the concepts.

I am so frustrated with this exam at this point. I really want to give up. I am giving myself to the end of 2016 (hopefully done before BEC expires next May). I am so hard on myself and I really can’t stand putting so much time an effort in to something and having no results to show for it.

Sorry for complaining just really needed to vent after getting the bad news.

    BEC-75!
    AUD-64, 84!
    REG-72,77!
    FAR- 74, 82!
    Done!!

take a moment to look at some of the people on this forum and see how many times some people failed. I've noticed some people who failed a bunch of times each section (I even saw someone who failed up to 10 times and more) but eventually passed every section. Not to be harsh, but it is pretty pointless being an accountant w/o a CPA. The difference in career earnings and job qualifications between an accountant and a CPA are huge.

I know failing is tough, I've been there. Almost everyone here has been there. It is completely normal to fail and life is all about overcoming obstacles. No successful person in the world has ever made it to the top without failing. It is also completely normal to feel down during this process. I started this process last November and I have had feelings of being down a bunch of times, especially because I felt like I was not doing much with my life compared to some of my very successful friends from college and my childhood. But than, I realized I am almost done with the CPA tests and I have a good job for a recent college grad.

Just dont give up. If you give up on this, the truth is that giving up will become a habit for the rest of your life. What you are feeling will not last forever. You can do it.

Tough times don't last. Tough people do.

Thanks buddy. I am not going to give up. I really do want this extremely bad. I just bought NINJA MCQ and will be going at this hard until I retake in October. I know one day I will look back at all of this and be thankful I stuck with it!

@future cpa, I am in the same boat, I am tax accountant and I haven't taken REG yet I have passed Auditing and Failed BEC with a 75. My auditing expires next July so I can't fail anymore or I will lose credit. I feel your frustration, I keep asking myself if I am cut out for public accounting all the time. The CPA test is a lot about learning about yourself and will weed out people who are serious about public accounting. The question is do you want to be in public accounting and a tax accountant? IF the answer is still Yes, you can't quit, keep focused each day and do the best you can. I believe this test is passable by anyone who has the dedication. Keep going.

I agree with Knicks92, even though Patrick Ewing isn't going to comback. I agree that it is pointless to be an accountant with out the CPA.

Well good thing you don't live in TN, you are NOTHING BUT A BOOKKEEPER if you are not a CPA. It doesn't matter about the education. The letters are necessary. Yes, you can work for a company as an accountant, but they will pay you like a bookkeeper unless you have so many years of experience like 15 or something. The point is fight for it or regret not fighting. Like it was already said, we all have failed somewhere during this process, some more times than others, that does not mean they will not be good accountants, or illiterate in anyway. some have passed only to start over again because some parts expired. You are not alone. Really, I think we are just brave enough to pay the fee one more time hoping this time is a pass. So rant over, get back to studying before we all are crying next score release.

@ tncincy- Maybe it's a difference in the part of TN we're in, but I know a lot of accountants (including myself and most of my colleagues) who aren't CPA's and have under 10 years of experience that are paid significantly better than bookeepers.

The earnings potential and career growth are definitely much better when you get those letters, but they are by no means required to earn more than a bookeeper.

    FAR- 75
    BEC- 83
    REG- 85

Officially done! Exclusively used NINJA for BEC, REG, and FAR

My intention is not to belittle the profession but it is different in rural TN. The separation in pay is great without the CPA designation. The respect is almost the same. I am sure the metropolitan areas pay much more for CPA's than accountants. By no means is a CPA required to be a bookkeeper or accountant, nor to have a good career. I was just trying to encourage FuturePA that matters could be worse and to keep studying it will be over soon enough.
