I’m applying for my license and a question asks “have you ever been convicted of any criminal offense in any state or federal court?”

I did get convicted for disorderly conduct in 2005 when I was still in high school. I wasn’t exactly the study type back then. I did however get the charge expunged in 2011. Do I mark yes or no?

If they were expunged they would not show up on a background check. That's about all the info I can give you.

    BEC - End July
    AUD - End Aug
    FAR - End October

Call your state board and ask!

Your state board should have information for what to do in this scenario. In Texas, the application states that you do not have to report anything that has been expunged. If you can't find anything in your application instructions or on the website, call the board.

Funny because, In AZ, they don't expunge, they “Set judgement aside”. A friend of mine had his conviction set aside and IT STILL showed up in his background check.

if you were not convicted you were not convicted period. but if you are questioning this minor incident do a background check on yourself. That would be playing it safe and you wont have to question ur self any longer.

@TheGuyCPA….I had a similar experience with an arrest back in my early undergrad years (8 years ago), was settled with a probationary period (1 year) and if I didn't get in trouble again it would be expunged/cleared. I did the year probationary period, had it removed from my record, and have not spoken about it to anyone, let alone an employer since.

If it was truly expunged from your record, unless your applying for a high-security clearance type government job, don't mention it.
