Couldn't have felt more prepared for my AUD exam today

Did about 7,000 MCQs and did every simulation at least once / most 2 or 3 times. Have been averaging high 90s for the past few weeks.

Aaaaand I’m pretty sure I’ll be retaking the exam. First testlet I felt good about. Second was noticeably more difficult. Third seemed a little easier. Which has me worried because even though I had a harder time with the second testlet I didn’t think I did bad enough to have to go back to medium difficulty for the third testlet. Simulations were fairly difficult. The research simulation, I couldn’t even figure out what it was looking for, it was so vague. And my last simulation was completely absurd. Extremely FAR based and something I’ve never seen before. I was able to calculate answers with logic that made sense to me and my answers seemed reasonable given the PY numbers, but I don’t feel confident about it at all.

Oh and one MCQ really through me off because there were two answers that could be right, and this isn’t just me thinking that they could be right. As soon as I got home I looked it up, and sure enough there in the description was both of the answers.

/rant. Gonna cry myself to sleep for the next 31 days, and then cry some more once I get the score.

Actually it sounds like you passed. Hard testlets are a good sign. Move on to the next test, don't waste time moping.

Biff Tannen, I like your ninja account name! Now we just need an alternate 1985 Biff Tannen to join- he was a business man. He might be a cpa.

Hope you did great. Sounds like you aced it.

Same situation here. I took is yesterday. I flew through all of the MCQ's and finished them in an hour. So I felt confident until I started on the sims. I spent an hour and a half on them and my research question was a toss up. None of the other sims related to AL at all and two of them were very math intensive. And now we have a month to wait for the score. Awesome.

    Done.

Third testlet is always medium difficulty, a “hard” third testlet does not exist. I'm predicting an 86 for you.

For what's it worth, don't be surprised to see journal entries in your AUD sims 😉

    FAR - 75
    AUD - 83
    BEC - 85
    REG - 72, retake October 2015 - 85 PASS!

    And I'm DONE. Praise!

Can you guys share any tips for the journal entries and math-intensive sims? My fear is that I'll get to the SIMS and then have all journal entries and weird math-y sims.

For these were you able to find examples in the AL of what you may need to answer the questions? & Can you even study for these type of SIMS?

I agree though, it sounds like you aced it Biff!

    @mla11692

Doesn't the AICPA scoring guidelines say that Testlet 3 can be difficult depending on your Testlet 2 performance? The guideline I've looked at is from 2011. Just wondering if I was looking at outdated material the whole time.

    NH CPA
    REG: 07/03/2014 - 88
    AUD: 08/30/2014 - 73 - Retake 10/16/14 - 86
    BEC: 05/31/2015 - 77
    FAR: 08/08/2015 - 64 - Retake 11/23/15 - 77

Yes, testlet 3 can be difficult according to the AICPA. Not sure where that assumption is coming from, mla?

In my test experience, and from discussion with others, if you actually prepared but walk out of the exam and think you failed, you most likely passed. If you think you passed, you prob got a 30.

    AUD: Pass
    REG: Pass
    BEC: Pass
    FAR: Pass
    DONE!

Cheer up – I think the chances you passed are higher than you think. I'm taking AUD this Friday and I wish I was close to 7,000 MCQ's. Although my results for BEC and REG matched my initial impression after taking the exams, there were many times in grad school where I thought I'd bombed exams and did much better than anticipated. Also try to give yourself a break and not think about your score. At the end of the day, it's just an exam.
